someone wearing a Arabic T-Shirt, (because a T-Shirt can't cause any harm), yet file suit against students in Louisiana for wearing a T-Shirt proclaiming their "right to prayer"?

Do you have a link to the second action -- where the ACLU filed suit against students -- because that's not possible as a matter of law.

You cannot sue individuals that way -- it's just not legally possible to sue individual people to stop them from wearing particular clothes. Someone can sue the govt to stop infringement of civil liberties, but it's impossible to do it the other way around.

So, someone misquoted something in that story.

The ACLU sole purpose is to defend the Bill of Rights. I'm not familiar with the Arabic T-shirt but as for the right to pray t -shirt, if it was a public school, religion can not be allowed. It is a violation of your constitutional rights for a PUBLIC school to show any favoritism towards a specific religion. Non Christians pay taxes to fund the schools the same as Christians do. Therefore you can not represent Christianity in a public school.

The right to prayer case in Louisiana was about a school board opening its meetings with a prayer, not about the T-shirts. The ACLU argued that opening a government meeting with a prayer violates the establishment clause of the first amendment.

Ha.....the ACLU would not symbolize a guy or woman like Joe. he's the incorrect race, we've the kind of double usual at the instant. Obama has taken us back 20 years in time whilst it includes racial divide. He has performed the race card plenty we are extra divided than ever. i extremely do in contrast to him consequently on my own. He did this for his very own benefit, no longer for the rustic. i will't believe all and sundry could even supply him attention. bear in mind the ACLU is in Obama's Pocket!

The same reason they threatened to sue a LA school last year for having prayer at graduation. What do you think the students decided to do this year? Pray at graduation.

The same reason they threatened to sue Slidell courthouse for a picture of Jesus that had been there for decades.

They don't understand that they're dealing with the Bible Belt. They need to stop picking on the little bity details and start to do things that actually matter.

this suit was against the school system in Louisiana, not against individual students, but, it still stinks to high heaven,
I think this is the way it went down , but not sure,
but, the A,C,L,U, has been a commie dominated group for a long time, it was originally a good group , and since you don't haft to be a lawyer to join the A,C,L,U, more people should join to have a say in what they do and don't do, this way maybe we could root out the commie infestation , and make it a good organization again, where the people have some one who will represent them on constitutional issues, most independent lawyers are not qualified to represent a person on these issues, so many people are left out and are not represented period, they can still be a good organization providing enough people Will join and over ride the communist influence,
I am waiting to see what they will do about the Jewish school in Fla, that is to be sponsored by the tax payer, I bet nothing and we will pay for this school , and many others such as Arabic, all sponsored by the American tax payer its okay as long as it is not Christan, another slap in the face for our brave white Christan men who have lost their balls and won't make a stand, they deserve it,

Did you know on 7-17-07 Bush made ANOTHER executive order. This one means a t shirt disagreeing with the party line on the Iraq war will get you arrested. He calls it aiding the enemy. Lets see the ACLU protect our free speech on that one. Won't happen. ACLU is part of this dog and pony show we call government.

I'm pretty sure you're not accurately reporting what happened in the second case you mention. Do you have an exact link? The ACLU generally does excellent work; if we didn't have them, we'd probably all have RFID tags surgically implanted by the government or something by now.

someone in the ACLU lacks judgement . the organization has done some good works but they have made mistakes too.
