it seems like the idea of democracy in Britain is becoming a little strained, i just don't believe we have much of a say in what goes on anymore, i'm probably just being paranoid and this is probably just me. Still let me know what you think

No they are not, but then neither are we!

That's what happens when we allow to few to go unchecked for to long, hoping they will do the right thing. Unfortunately Bob Dylan was right, "Money doesn't talk, it swears"!

We are a Representative Republic, and Britain has a Constitutional Monarchy! Neither are true democracies as there are none!

Britain like the United States and Japan are Democratic Republics. It`s a better system than the rest of the world but only a TRUE Democracy will serve the PEOPLES best Interests.

THE ONLY REAL Democracy is PURE DEMOCRACY where the people vote and make the laws NOT the represenatives

Pure democracy is actually bad. But in the sense your talking about where leaders are elected by the public, yes. Everyone in Britain and the free world has a say but what parliament decides in the long run isnt fully up to you. But the opinion you contribute along with everyone elses is very important to the way they make their decisions and the government of Britain functions.

to the other posters. A true democracy is a bad thing. Majority would rule and those who opposed even small things might be voted out of the country. Thats what happened in Athens actually. People would be removed from the city, and it can happen if enough people want it. You can't do that in the US because everyone here has equal rights.
