When i was a little boy around 10 to 11, my grandad past away. Me and my Grandma were the last to see him in the hospital, and on the saturday he was sat up in bed, I think he may have been reading. And true to himself he was more worried about the other elderly men in the room he was in, One was dying of bronchitis, and another we never got to speak to.
Anyway I digress...
He past away in the early hours of monday Morning I think. And I was told about it on the way home from school by my Mum (it was her Dad). I remember I was emotionless about it, my younger sister (around 6) was crying histerically, maybe because my mum was. I didnt think much about it after that. I wasnt allowed to go to the funeral I had to go to school. I didnt think much about it again, until one day I was at my Grandmas house. (Its a large Stone Built Farmhouse In the Middle of a huge forest, walls 3 foot thick, always seems dark inside even on brightest days)
I was playing outside, cant remember exactly what I was playing because what followed takes all of my memory.
I ran into the Porch and into the hallway, the stairs were on the left and led up very steeply. The walls were all wooden panneling up to banister height and then it was some dull patterned wall paper. As I got to the landing oposite the bathroom I felt my gaze being drawn to the bedroom on my left. It was the second of the larger bedrooms (my Grandad kept his books on WWII in there, and It was the room I slept in when I went to visit) as I turned my head to look in the bedroom I must have looked puzzled, as my Grandad was stood in the room. He was wearing the Green Overalls he always wore when he worked on his farm, and I must have stood there for what felt like hours, but was barely a minute. There was no speech, it looked as though i was looking through a window into a steamy room, I could see it was him, but It wasnt crystal clear. I turned around without going to the bathroom and ran down the stairs my heart pounding. Just as my Mum came to pick us up. I ran out to her and told her what I saw in the Bedroom and she neither confirmed nor denied what happened, she just said "I wish it was me who had seen him".
To this day when I visit my Grandmas house I still slowly look towards the bedroom, Half wanting to see him again, the other affraid as I would be seeing a ghost.
I know its silly because he would never harm me in life, But according to Jehovas Witnesses it wasnt him, mearly Satan trying to tempt me. Either way it gave me the willies!
So yes I have seen a ghost, At first It Didnt Scare me, it was afterwards after I had seen it I was affraid, and I would always run straight to the bathroom with my eyes closed. When I stopped the nights there afterwards I would always find it so hard to sleep, but could never tell my Grandma why.

I've never seen a ghost, but i've felt a presence of one.. you know those chain mails people get, when they tell you a story about a ghost that will kill you tonight if you dont forward to at least a number of people? well i got one that says 15 people, but i didnt have that much people to send to, so i just sent 12. So that night, i went to bed and suddenly, the door flew open, exactly what the chain mail said would happen, and a voice called my name... i was sooo scared that i closed my eyes, and fell asleep... the next morning, when i woke up, the door was still open from the ghost last night... that was freaky. I had to sleep with a night light from then on =[

I live in a victorian terraced house in a welsh ex-mining village where in 1913 there was a terrible disaster - 500 men killed in a pit explosion. there was said to be a "death in every house"
As a result there are loads of spooky stories!
A neighbour lives in the old pit manager's house and thats haunted - she regularly hears footsteps run up and down her stairs, doors open and shutting and an old miners' lamp her kitchen swings violently by itself.
Our house isn't haunted (as far as we know - I had a medium check it out because Im nervous of anything like that) but it can be creepy - I hate being home alone at night! I do feel there is a presence here but its friendly.
I used to work in a shop at the end of my road and once a week had to clean the flat upstairs which was used as a therapy centre. I hated the place! The minute I walked in I would feel sick and there was the constant feeling of being watched and being "unwelcome", like someone did not want you there. The bottom steps of the staircase to the attic were really creepy, everytime I walked up them I would feel dizzy and I would feel ike someone was standing there watching me while I worked.
The owners took loads of photos up there and they were all covered in "orbs".
A medium said that apparently many years ago the shop was once a Butchers' shop, the attic was an "office" where the accounts were done and a little boy would run up the stairs and disturb whoever was working there. This cruel person then would drag him down the stairs by his hair and throw him in the understairs cupboard, where he'd cower in the darkness, under those two "creepy" steps.
I was so glad when I stopped working there!!!

A Ghost is a Spirit which is a Soul the Etheric body that we use to Astral Travel so when we pass over that is what leaves the body.
It is understood as a sort of life force body or aura that constitutes the "blueprint" of the physical body, and which sustains the physical body.
Some people don't pass over because of unfinished business
Or they just don't know they have died
Or they didn't know to go to the light
This is what people call a Ghost
I call Spirit they may just be a Lost Soul
These are then Earth bound Spirits you may call Ghosts
Or sometimes family members that have past ove come back to heal you when you are ill or just pop in to see how things are going in your life : )
Yes I have and the first time it was my Grandmother that had past over I was scared and they is why she came to protect me now spirits don't worry me at all I actual enjoy them most of all both my Grandparents : )
Nothing in life is to be feared, It is only to be understood.
Love & Blessings

i saw a ghost of a dog. No lie. I was standing talking to a friend in her house. We both saw what we thought was her dog run between us and it went to jump up her side. She looked down at it and said "don't ...." but there was nothing there, and that second we looked over and we actually saw her dog come walking in the doorway towards us from about 20 ft away. He must have a had a ghost friend playing with him. (I can't say i really believe in things like that, but on this occasion, i cannot think of any other explanation. We definitely saw the shape of an animal run between us.)

Not seen one but with a friend felt a very strong presence. We had practiced a wiji board that night with some other friends and had all been introduced to a certain NEMO. Anyway we finished with the board afetr a while and went to get some sleep. We were sharing a room and both of us woke with this real strange feeling that soemone was in the room. We remained quite but it got to us in the end in me jumping out and swtiching the light on....nothing there as would be expected. Anway that was one of the experiences I have had. Cheers.

I think I've heard one...I lived in a victorian terraced house, it was run down and nothing went right there for any of the lodgers who moved in...I saw loads come and go and most people got deppressed or into financial trouble...ended relationships etc. Every night, sitting in the living room I would see a shadow out of the corner of my eye, on the stairs...and every night I heard the same sound of a load of dishes breaking...it was exactly the same sound every night...as if someone had dropped a big pile of plates....like a recording. The noise was heard by a lot of people and it seemed to come from the kitchen but nothing was ever out of place. Eventually, I moved out and learned from a neighbour that in the 20's a woman had gone slowly mad in the house after her husband died in the war....she commited suicide there. It never felt like a happy house.

My wife saw a ghost, but that`s not why I am on here. I was reading the answers, particularly the one from KRISTA who says she `SMELT` a ghost!
Now I wonder how she did this, because to `smelt` is the term for melting two different metals to make another type of metal, like tin and steel to make bronze and brass etc.
I`d be very interested in how she did this, no jocularity meant, I`m serious!

The definition of ghost is lower, stuck spirit. And yes, many a medium has worked to clear them into the light.

Well, there was this time me and my friend went to school library after school, it's in a separate building, which is almost always empty. But the library was locked, so on our way out, we heard the a tap in the boys toilet turned on, there were definitely no one else in the building, even if it's the librarian was in the toilet, she would be in the girls one. Then we heard footsteps in it, we shouted in to in and no one answered, and we didn't see any shadows, if anyone was in it, we should be able to see shadow on the floor, because the door was open. It was really freaky...
