The Indian coastline is so huge and thus I am guessing that there must be thousands of uninhabited Islands around India??? Does anyone know exacly know how many unhabited islands exist around India (inside it's maritime borders because India can only claim those that are inside it's maritime borders) or where I can ascertain such information.

There are NOT 0 island you goofy. There must be thousands. If there are islands which one can purchase if they are rich enough, how can anyone say that there are 0 islands around a massive country like India.

Last time I checked, uninhabited WAS equal to having no human population.

Their are a lot of uninhabitated Islands around India. This breathtaking collection of 572 islands (only 36 are inhabited) near India offer a heady mix of dense forests and endless beaches and are surrounded by the clear blue waters of the Bay of Bengal. Some of these are Phi Phi (Phi Phi Don, Phi Ley and 'Mosquito island'), 'Chicken' island.

ok...my research came up with two names quite easily..
Cross Island is an uninhabited islet located off the Mumbai harbour, India. It is located off the coast of Dockyard Road, near Ferry Wharf.

Barren Island is located in the Andaman Sea, one of the most easterly of the Andaman Islands.True to its name, it is a barren area uninhabited by humans, though with a small population of goats.

for more info look up List of Islands of India on wikipedia..bet u'll find a lot more names there ...

Government of India Survey is the right place to ask that question. The army, air force and of course the navy also will know for sure but will give the information only if they are satisfied about the reason to know.

There are no uninhabited islands around India or any other continent. I think you mean un populated by humans.
