You can eat meals from the whole world in the Netherlands, but traditional Dutch food is not the most easy to get.
For breakfast we eat bread, with sliced meat, cheese, peanut butter or jam. With tea, but coffee is getting more normal.
Lunch is more of the same, sometimes with eggs, fried or as omelet.
Most traditional dinner dishes I can think about are based on mashed potatoes. With vegetables mashed with them. Or some heavy soups, like pea soup and brown beans soup.
But if you go out for dinner you can chose Indonesian / Chinese, pizza, kebab (locally called showarma,) or one of the many other foreign meals that are really popular.
But the all time favorite in the Netherlands are the pancakes.
The kind you find in restaurants are big enough to be dinner by themselves. You can get many different kinds. Some of them have the additions baked in them, bacon and apple are the most traditional in that. And some have toppings, everything you can think of, sweet and savory.
And some have both, or ice-cream or whatever you can think of, including a dash of an alcoholic drink.

Oh, you're in for some REAL culture shock! My husband is Dutch, and when we visited Holland for ten days I thought I was going to starve to death. ;)
Restaurants are AWFUL there. Waitstaff at restaurants in Holland are on salary, and not supposed to be tipped, so they treat everybody equally...and like crap!
I'm neither worldly nor adventurous when it comes to eating, so here's my two cents...
Everything comes with mayo. If you ask for ketchup, you will get a thimble full and they will charge you extra for it!
Drinks are very, very, very small there, and refills are never free. You're going to laugh the first time you order a soda.
Definitely try croquettes, because they are very good. I found that out late in the trip. Believe it or not, McDonalds there has a McCroquette sandwich that's pretty darn edible! ;)
If you have the chance, eat at an Indonesian restaurant that serves a "rice table" -- it's almost like a mini-buffet at your table with different kinds of meats and side dishes. A very nice experience!
I hope I didn't scare you too much, but I wish someone had warned me before I went over. I would have smuggled in some food. Haha...

When I visited Holland years ago, I was with a few picky eaters, but we always found something to eat. Almost every restaurant had a kaas sandwich or something like it (grilled cheese). There were also McDonald's and pizza places everywhere. Just make sure to be specific when ordering the pizza though, because we once ordered a cheese pizza, and they brought out a pizza w/ just cheese and no sauce!
My favorite things to eat while there were pastries, stroopwaffels (just as good as Dutchability describes), and bread with nutella spread for breakfast.
Enjoy your trip!

If I am correct you really want to know if you can eat the same food you are used to. Nearly every block in Amsterdam has a McDonalds. Burgerkings enough and even Kentucky fried chicken in the middele of the centre. Everywhere you see Steak, french fries and salad. If you stay at a 'better' hotel you will have American breakfast. You will be amazed to see that 50 % of the icecream parlours serve american icecream. Most pubs serve american (bottled) beer.

Although pancakes are popular, they are basically crepes and not really filling (so if you are coming from the US and expect a pile of flapjacks you WILL be disappointed).
Breakfast
coffee and sandwiches. A cheese sandwich has a VERY thin layer of cheese that they scrape off with a cheese slicer.
in the afternoon, they usually have another sandwich, and if you really eat with Dutch people you will discover that they do NOT like to eat "warm" in the afternoon. That means lunch will be your second "cold" meal of the day.
Snack
Most Dutch people I know like to have snacks or borrel. They eat french fries with mayonaise (really), french fries with peanut sauce, or "war fries" (patat oorlog) with fries, peanut sauce and mayo. You can ask for ketchup but you will get looks.
They also like deep fried pastries with whipped meat inside (bitterballen, croquets). I honestly don't understand how they stay so thin eating all of this fried stuff with mayo but the fact they cycle alot must help (and exercise).
Dinner
Stampot (mashed potatoes with boerenkool, sauce, meat) and basically all kinds of variations of meat, potatoes and veg.
The split pea soup is nice.
Do not expect culinary masterpieces (go to Belgium for really good food or eat Indonesian) but there is one thing that is absolutely wonderful....
(drumroll)
STROOPWAFELS
They have amazing cookies. You can't eat just one, be forewarned.
Tip: Hangover meal
If you have the munchies or have just finished clubbing, you will eat shwarma (lambs meat) or kebab with fries.
tip 2: ventue outside of Amsterdam and go to the fishing villages (or former villages). The fish is pretty good (fried fish). kibbeling is great, so are the fried mussels. Just stay away from the haring - unless you like raw fish cured in vinegar

While i agree (as usual) with Willeke, i do not agree that pancakes are the national favorite.
Unless the intended audience is below 12 years of age.
Other than that - i could copy her answer ;)
