I always prefer to see movies that appeal to me in theatre. (That would be an action-packed epic with an exceptional plot, a touch of comedy, and a wee bit of romance...a WEE bit.)
That way, I have the scent of buttered-popcorn, the giant screen, and the surround-sound. It is so exciting! I thought it such a pity that I missed Lord of the Rings while it was in theatres.
I was also looking forward to 300 (I love your avatar; Gerard Butler is SEXY!), but I was so busy around that time. I can't wait to rent it, though!

Most of the time, I wait for the DVD. I did go see "No Reservations" this last week. However, that's the first movie I've been to since January or February of this year.
I figure if I'm paying THAT much for a movie, I'd like to not deal with the kid behind me kicking the seat, or the people talking through the dialogue, and all the rest.
So, for the price of two tickets, I can buy the DVD in 6 months (or rent it), and enjoy it in my comfy clothes with my feet up.

Usually wait for DVD or cable. Sometimes make an exception for an effects type of movie if I can find it playing somewhere that still has a 'big' screen.

I wait for DVD now. I haven't been to a movie theatre in many months.
Though, right now movies are not so interesting to me, so sometimes I see a trailer and wanna see it but then it doesn't happen and I don't feel disapointed.

I'd rather watch it in the cinema! Bigger screen, great sound system and the "comradeship" I get by watching with friends and other people in the theatre is too great for me to resist!
And if I have the DVD, I'd probably watch it once or twice and forget about it.

It depends on the movie - some I would rather see on the big screen and other I would rather watch in privite.
Good Luck!!!
