I know with some horse supplements, such as horseshoer's secret, it can take several months to take effect. Does anyone know how long it would take for SimpliFly with LarvaStop Feed-Thru Fly Control to take effect? Also, if I gave my gelding the feed thru fly contol, would I still need to fly spray him?

We use SimpliFly and it does take a few months to be effective. Such supplements are primarily for long term fly reduction. I do not spay on a schedule but, do use a spray when riding or transporting my equines off property to protect from all biting insects.

If you board your horse and all horses in the stable are not receiving a feed through fly control supplement, it does little good to give it to yours.

Sprays should be used carefully if you have more than 1 horse, as the 'groom' each other, resulting in ingestion of the chemicals left on the coat.

I use apple cider vinegar in their water during the summer. 1 gal vinegar per 100 gal of water. In about 1 week, most flys and mosquitos start leaving them alone. (It comes out in the sweat and apparently doesn't 'taste' good to the 'biting' insects!) They still get bothered some, but less, by regular houseflys.

the priority with feed-via larvicides is that whilst they have 'long previous via', they're nonetheless lively in the manure and the atmosphere. They artwork via hormonally combating the larvae from coming up. This hormonal pastime maintains in the atmosphere and impacts each sort of lifestyles that it contacts, such through fact the human beings who could drink the water that has seeped for the duration of the floor on its thank you to the nicely or public water source. we are seeing 6 year previous women coming up breasts, an strengthen in gynomastecia (sp? the priority the place boys develop lady-kind breast tissue at puberty), and different indications of budding issues, you're able to pardon the un-humorous pun. those materials of those issues have not been remoted, regardless of the undeniable fact that it is clever that the extra man made hormones and hormone mimics we are uncovered to, the extra hormonally-appropriate issues we are able to have. in case you do no longer purely like the scent of garlic, the applicable direction of action is to maintain the barn section as sparkling as achieveable, use fly predators, and use the final pyrethrin/permethrin based topical insect repellents and killers.
