I have been gone for three weeks. I returned home, entered the washroom, and wow! not once was it cleaned in the time I was away. They all claimed they didn't know how to! Do you think it should be taught in school and then final exam to get to the next grade?

LOL...A never ending battle with the whole house, not just the restroom...I like your idea about teaching that in school! Funny! I've said many times, "You guy's are gonna have this house condemmed if something ever happens to me!"...Of course they "know" how, or at least could figure it out, they just choose not to. But when I'm sick, they are so sweet and take over fully with no questions asked! And fret over me terribly to take care of me and make sure I'm O.K. and don't need anything. So, I know they can do it if needed. But, I'm honestly trying to learn to enjoy life daily with my family and not worry or get so upsset over the smaller things. I want to leave nothing but good memories. I don't want my kids remembering me screaming about cleaning to toilet, I want them to remember me laughing and having fun with them. I know there should be a fine line here and teach them dicipline about being clean and taking care of things, and I'm working on that too. Hopefully I'll get the right combo and figure this out. But yeah, your not the only one.

Bathroom cleaning should be taught after potty training has been achieved..You start then out slow, (especially boys who seem to drip). Girls should be taught to wipe the seat w/toilet paper at home before putting their bottoms down... by five boys and girls should be cleaning out the tub after baths while the water runs out, make a game of it...the sink comes in about time the reach first grade...the have brush their teeth every morning and should be taught to wipe the sink out...By the age of ten all learned should be but together and clean the bathroom as well as any mom.

It is called selective memory. This is something taught to men at an early age. It is sort of like selective hearing, where we learn the ability to say yes dear every few seconds/minutes while she is talking to us. Some have even perfected this to do it while sleeping. I manage to remember only the last sentence she says, so when asked if i am listening i can quote it to her, even if i have no clue what she is talking about.

Selective memory is a similar phenomenon. We only remember the things that we WANT to, like our show comes on at 8, or you promised that tonight we would.(fill in own blanks). Women do not possess this. They can remember every detail about a fight 25 years ago and recall how you were wrong with incredible accuracy. To this the men reply--what are you talking about?

um, what was the question again?

Apparently you never bothered to teach them, either. So take up some of the blame for your predicament and the manner in which the people of your household behave.

I know how to clean every room of the house, do laundry correctly, iron, wash dishes, cook, bake, and so on. I was taught the basics by my mother and then improved on my skills. If you can't be bothered to instruct your kids on how to do things and put them in charge of doing them, then be ready to take some responsibility when they don't get done.

Additional: Isn't it funny how you don't feel your family should be placing the job of cleaning the bathroom on you, but you feel that teaching them to clean it should be placed on the schools? Here we have another example of a parent believing schools should be doing their jobs as parents.

Additional: If you taught them, then how can they claim they don't know how? And why would they need to teach it in school if they already know how to do it? I'm only going by what you've written. If you're leaving information out or being misleading in what you provide, then that's your fault. Don't blame others because you're an imbecile. I'm not the only one going by the implied BS you're writing and telling you to teach them. No wonder your kids are messed up. Get a few thousand clues, yourself. You're the one who obviously needs them.

And I'm guessing you singled me out because my comments touching on your arrogant attitude came a little closer to home than that of the others here. Too bad.

Oh, you actually have to be humourous for people to get the humour.

now is the time at your home for WASHROOM CLEANING 101. now, every one line up and PAY ATTENTION....i am only going to show you this once and you BETTER GET IT. of course they are not going to clean it, you are so good at it they are going to leave it to you. time to put your foot down and let them know you are not the only one living in that house and you are not the only one who uses that room. sounds like you have been too soft on them. if a child does not know something, it is up to the parent to teach them. crack the whip and you WILL get results!!!
