Sounds like the starter solenoid.

Sounds like your battery is too weak to turn over your ignition. Put a changer to it and see what happens - it should start right up. Since it is an 06, your battery still should be good, unless it has been discharged a long time. The likelihood of a solenoid failure is also low.

It is a good idea to invest in a trickle charger, and keep it hooked up when not riding.

just because the battery has enough to run the lights etc, does not mean that it has got enough power to turn over the engine...even tho the bike is new if you have left it more than a couple of weeks it will run down the battery especially if you have an active alarm system on the bike powered by the battery...this has happened to me and my ninja a couple of times so I bought a trickle charger which does the job of looking after the battery very nicely if I cant get to ride for a while

If the starter solenoid clicks once - the battery is weak/dead or has a bad connection.
If it constantly clicks like a machine gun, the starter solenoid is bad and needs to be replaced.

probably means the battery is dead or weak. you may be able to remove it and charge it up with a regular automotive type battery charger or have it tested at a bike shop you trust. ride safe when you get it fired up!

sounds like a weak battery. try putting a battery charger on it .if it is more than a couple of years old you may need a new battery.
