"Yes" and "No". I had to learn the Metric system as part of math, in junior high.

But, I actually had to make use of what I learned, when I moved to the UK. Also I had to use Metric as I travelled throughout Europe.

Today, I'm back living in the US. I use the metric system on a very limited basis, as we, in the US have not yet fully adopted this system as our standard of measurement. But we do use some of it on a daily basis. Most Americans know what a litre is and roughly what a metre is. But milliliters and kilometers, kilograms, celsius etc... we don't yet make use of.

When I go to Canada, I do. We don't typically use metric in VT.
