Iran is a democratic republic that elects their leaders.

And both the Shiite-led Iraqi govt and the Shiite-led Iran govt are the only two predominantly Shiite countries surrounded by Sunnis -- with the Sunni-Shiite conflict having lasted over a thousand years so far.

Who else is Iraq going to turn to but the strongest power on the same side in the region -- it only makes logical sense.

Especially since Al Qaeda -- who is Sunni -- has declared both Iraq and Iran to be enemies -- so the two work together to stop the fanatics who want to attack them.

Welcome to the world of international politics.

as an iranian i really hate to see the civil war in Iraq,
I admit that Iran is invloved too,
but Iraqi PM is no good,
those people in power in iraq just dont understand how crucial the situation is,
they gonna miss the chance to grasp democracy and biuld the country and they gonna regret it later!
i say they are traitors to Iraq,
such a pitty!
