I know about applying to the nearest police station but is it just straight forward and what paperwork is required if i dont work here but am able to support myself do they give you a hard time when applying would like to here of anybodies experiences..........or is it easier to just leave the country and re-enter any ideas thanking you........

It's easy for the most part. I had to show my passport, my marriage certificate, proof of income/support and maybe a few other things... the police took care of it all and after a month I had my 1 year residency card. They may want proof of why you need/want to stay. For me, I was married so I had every right to be there. If you have proof if finances, you should be ok.

I would say that it is much easier for you to just go through the paperwork and get the card. I know that they were giving the card to Americans for up to one year. That was a few years ago. I also know that they are NOW giving them for up to 10 years. Don't feel discouraged if you are being sent here and there when you are in the paper work process. This is something that ALL people go through here. And yes, even Moroccans. Bring all paperworks with you and then some and be expected to travel from here to there. You can go online to the American Consulate in Morocco and find out exctly all you need to bring.

I would recommend that you contact the American consulate. My understanding is that you are allowed to stay for 90 days and anything beyond that has to be approved. More than likely they will required documentation that you indeed can support yourself. Good luck. Once you find out please share your information as I would like to know as well. I am going to Morocco in 2 weeks and will be visiting the consulate for paperwork to get married while there. I'll ask about applying for residency and email you the information. I think it is fairly easy to get residency (compared to other places) from what I have heard. Pretty sure you need to have proof that you can support yourself. I will star this as I have contacts that live there.
