Yes, I think marijuana should be legalized, controlled, and taxed just like tobacco and alcohol.

What was the question? I see a lot of answers from people who obviously have never smoked weed. I smoke it, have been smoking it for around thirty years and I would put my memory to the test against anyone on here. Never been in a psych ward, never robbed or killed anyone, own my own business and home and haven't given birth to any freaks of nature. Where do people get this crazy stuff from? It's long past time we stop putting people in jail for a weed that will grow most anywhere. Our government has done such a good job demonizing weed it would almost take an act of god to have it decriminalized at this point. After all we can't lose face by admitting it was just another mistake in the long line of mistakes our government makes. I think we should stop all the tax dollars being wasted on the war on drugs that we have been losing for many, many years. People want to get high and they are going to, legal or not.

Well, I think, YES it should be legal and taxed just like alcohol and tobacco. I think it should be illegal to grow or cultivate and only the govt. can grow, i think that is fair, and would prevent most people from growing their own so the govt can make most of the profit.
Sure there is going to be a few that are going to still wanna break the law and grow their own stuff, but the majority would rather go to the smoke shop and buy a pack of purple kush instead of waiting for the long time to grow it.
Also, I would say no to it being a medical drug because there are alot better drugs for people to take care of their problems, this should be legal, but RECREATIONAL just like alcohol and cigarettes.

No I believe in the Dutch system which is not legalization as a lot of foreigners think but tolerated sale to adult responsible users. That way the law can still always step in at any point marijuana use causes a problem.Weed can be used as a hard drug. Some people are very sensitive to its effects.Legalization would sent the wrong message and society would not be able to help people who overdo it till they really get out of hand and even then it's hard just as with alcohol.
Responsible users of Marijuana should not face criminal charges but there are better ways to ensure this than legalization.

NO
It may be a surprise to alot of people that it is almost as good as legal in some cities.
I live in Cleveland, OH, and the laws are very lenient, for amounts under 100g, that's a little over 3 oz. it's a minor misdemeanor, and it's not put on a criminal record. Carry anymore and you begin to look like a dealer and the charges go up.
I've heard too many stories of the stupid **** people have done under the influence of "weed" to support the unregulated use and distribution of this very heavily abused substance.

Absolutely not. Users and abusers keep trying to say it is safe but science is proving conclusively that it is not!
In only a decade the number of admissions to psychiatric hospital caused by the drug soared by 85 per cent due to the fact that those who smoke the drug regularly are more than twice as likely to suffer illnesses such as schizophrenia, hallucinations and delusions later in life.
As well as psychotic illness cannabis can cause affective disorders such as depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Even worse it is linked to cancers. Low doses of Ã-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), equivalent to that in the bloodstream of an average marijuana smoker facilitate infection of skin cells and can cause these cells to turn into malignant sarcoma.
It can also effect physical health. Three to four cannabis cigarettes a day cause the same amount of damage to the lungs as 20 or more tobacco cigarettes a day. Thus there are rising levels of lung diseases such as emphysema.
It can also effect the unborn child. Scientists have identified that endogenous cannabinoids, molecules naturally produced by our brains are functionally similar to THC from cannabis and play significant roles in establishing how certain nerve cells connect to each other. Maternal cannabis use allows THC to travel through the placenta and impair fetal brain development and impose life-long cognitive, social, and motor deficits in affected offspring.
On top of this there is growing evidence of cannabis being behind many serious criminal assaults and some murders. Also a number of car crash deaths have shown the driver to be so high on cannabis that they had no way to be in control of the vehicle. The Brit singer George Michael has been found slumped unconscious in his car in the middle of the road for example.

Yes, I believe it should...and regulated and taxed to the same proportion as tobacco, since 1 joint = 5 cigarettes, tax it on the same scale...that way only the rich get to smoke it.
No, I'm not rich, but since a ridiculous price like that would signify status, mostly the rich would buy it still...much like cigarettes.
Smoking used to be a sign of status but it became so inexpensive and commonplace that the rich moved on to other things. Anyone see a pattern?

I think there should be a few remote places where people can go and get their experimenting out of the way. (i.e. Amsterdam)
But, I think common everyday legalized use would cause more damage than all the tax money could compensate.
It is crazy to think that we would legalize "wacky tabacci" just as we are weaning so much of our world off of regular tobacco.

That's a hard question to answer. If we do legalize it it would cause less depression, & suicidal thoughts & stuff becuase people usually smoke weed when they're depressed to feel better. It would also cause more birth defects though so I'm going to say no we shouldn't legalize weed.

I think it shouldn't be legalized because if we do, in the future we will step by step legalize stronger drugs.

yes.
its not the government's job to tell people what to do with their bodies.
and all drugs are not the same. some cause anger, extreme strength, hallucinations, and other side-effects that could put other people and their property in danger. do what you want with yourself and your things, but leave others alone.
