Which one would you guys buy? Is Windows Vista Premium much better than the Basic one? How much would it cost me to add 1GB of ram myself to the Dell? What about in terms of quality? Is Dell generally higher quality than HP? Give me your thoughts! Thanks!

The only reason I hesitate to go with the HP is I read a couple forums and a few people who owned this model were claiming the build quality on this particular HP was that of an eMachine!

Get your first choice, the HP Pavilion A6152N. 3 gigs of memory beat 2 gigs any day. There really is no practical difference in the hard drives, as 50gb is really nothing. (It may be even less depending on how they measured the memory, but that's another story all together.) Vista Premium is a better deal than Vista Basic, as it is a bit more stable and has a few more bells and whistles.

Good luck with your choice!

Windows vista home basic as a total waste of space as it has none of the features, such as Aero Glass, that makes geting vista worth while and youd be be better off with XP home.

As thats not an option on either and if you really want Vista go for the HP as it at least has Home Premium, it also has a more RAM and a bigger hard drive.

im actually quite surprised that u can find a HP that is cheaper than dell and the HP with better specs...how about the graphic cards and other components? judging from the specs u have given, HP would give u a better deal. In general, HP gives better stability but for a higher cost, but in ur case its cheaper...i would go for HP here because it has an extra gb of ram and a bigger hdd and a better OS! i do believe that HP is of higher quality. although i may be wrong

u should also keep in mind of the warranties of both products.

yes. to looks premium is better. basic is not much different from XP.

i would suggest the HP because dell dimensions are out and they have new ones now..and just by looking at the memory and total hard drive at the same price..i would choose the pavilion. Ive also liked the hp SLIMLINEs, looks quite nice and is quite powerful, mostly, small.

hope this helps!

In very high end systems, dell will be better, I have seen some really powerfull Dell systems used for rendering.

In this case I'd go the HP route. If you had to choose.

Personally I'd go for an ASUS or gigabyte solution.

All the best!

The HP Pavilion has the better processor, graphics card, and a BluRay writer as major advantages. Never buy a computer based on RAM or Hard Drive space as it is easy and cheap to upgrade RAM in the future, and external hard drive prices drop every day. The 2nd computer is a much better option in my opinion. As future upgrades can be easily done on the 2nd one to even out all the possible advantages of the 1st but not vise versa.

Go for the first one, not just because it has better specs, but because Dell (to me) is not a very reliable brand. My mom used to get a dell notebook; it was a Lemon (filled with a hell lot of bugs and glitches)
