If you held the lemming like behavior of Bush supporters against them over the last years will you keep your guard up to not become a lemming yourself? For the other side but still.Who can deny Democrats pandered for votes of peeople in favor of impeachment and an end to this war?

The voters put the Democrats in to end the war, and it's escalating. The Democrats voted the money for the surge and the money for the next $459.6 billion military budget. Their latest achievement was to provide enough votes in support of Bush to legalize warrantless wiretapping for "foreign suspects whose communications pass through the United States." Enough Democrats joined Republicans to make this a 227-183 victory for Bush. The Democrats control the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi could have stopped the bill in its tracks if she'd wanted to. But she didn't. The Democrats' game is to go along with the White House agenda while stirring up dust storms to blind the base to their failure to bring the troops home or restore constitutional government.

Why does political calculation always seem to come first for the Demoicrats?

Yes,,as a registered Dem. I seriously feel tired of the new Congresses stance on the Iraq war currently. They need to grow a spine and stop funding. That's the only way to stop mad man Bush from destroying the entire world any more.

It took very little time for democrats to turn against Congress as compared to what Bush supporters have done. I and a lot of other democrats won't put up with this crap. I'll help vote BOTH the republicans and democrats out of office and give my votes to a third party if they don't straighten up. The democrats DO NOT have my unconditional support. Democrats have my support on the condition that they do what is ethically right. Not holding them to that standard means that they will have much less motivation to correctly do their jobs.

Since our leaders are supposed to represent ALL of us, and not just the party that elected them, I agree that citizens need to stay vigilant over members of *both* parties. Despite being a Democrat, I'm disappointed that my party hasn't made more progress in bringing some of our soldiers home, and I'm bitterly disappointed by the handful that voted for Bush's wiretapping bill, even with a six-month limit. That doesn't change, no matter how disgusted I am with the administration's "executive privilege" and contempt of Congress. One side's failure doesn't negate the other's.

Both Houses of Congress still have only a slight majority of Democrats, including the Independents.

Thus, it is the House Republicans' fault that the war is escalating, since the House Republicans refuse to deviate from their Party's agenda, and work with the other Congresspeople to override GW's veto power.

I don't think that I personally ever have to worry about becoming a lemming! I am neither Republican or Democrat. I feel that both parties are crammed full of Globalist/Elitist/NWO/PNAC kind of people! I am a free thinking, independent, progressive liberal, and my side is the side of the people...as opposed to the so called Elite! Anything that is good for ALL OF THE PEOPLE, rather than for the interests of the (so called) Elite few, is what I stand for, and believe in. When will these so called Elite learn that we are all equal and worthy in God's eyes, and their money DOES NOT make them superior to or more worthy than, the rest of us? *sm*

On a personal level and if for no other reason save personal integrity,we must constantly be re-assessing all of our attitudes/beliefs/opinions etc in light of our experiences.

The crucial question is whether or not such a process should be a "private one or a public one or both".

The sad reality of the political arena is that it usually seldom rewards "MIA CULPAS" for a number of reasons.

Right or wrong, Mia Culpas are normally seen by voters as a weakness rather than what it usually is ,the morally/ethically thing to do.Remember John Kerry who did in fact re-assess
his positions and changed them said so but paid for them dearly.

Currenrly GOP candidate Rommney is constantly un fire for having (like Kerry) flip-flopped on some issues namely abortion. This "mia culpa", which to give him the benefit of the doubt came after profound self analysis, is now very well the death knell of his campaign.

The major reason that "mia culpas" do not work and in fact are negatives ,is that opponents can easily "spin them" into character assassinations such as "flip-flopper" , "indecisive/weak person" , "carpetbagging opportunist" etc.

Given these realities of the political arena ,it appears we must throw out any moral/ethical codes and personal/intellectual integrity in order to win and and make no mistake but that winning is what it is all about and NOT "HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME " .

To those who would argue, that someone must start somewhere I say"Okay ,you start it " and you will discover that with so much at stake, all tactics are reduced to "THe lowest common denominator".

lemming like behavior...LMFAO...ROFL...IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK....
let me straighten you out on a few things.

i know what is ..is
i feel that lying under oath to a federal grand jury regardless of subject is still lying and should be punishable by JAIL TIME not an apology
i feel there is nothing wrong, illegal, or immoral about giving me back more of what i legitimately earn and its my money not the xxx xxxxxxx governments. ill spend it and help my family and the economy.
i dont need or want failed tax and spend schemes in my life, i am perfectly willing and able to control my own finances and future and dont need a goverment run by out of control liberals to do so.
travelgate, filegate, whitewater, the cattle futures fiasco, the vince foster coverup, the montana land grab, campaign finance fraud 2000, the largest tax increase in us history, the tie breaking vote to tax social security breaking a fifty year promise to the nations elderly, and so on do NOT represent good fiscal policy. they do, in fact represent MASSIVE lapses in good sound judgement and lack of character

PRECISELY HOW IS THIS LEMMING LIKE BEHAVIOR???
