I know it's far off, but I am fascinated by human nature to survive. In 4-5 bil. yrs the Sun will run out of energy destroying our galaxy, and changing it forever. What will we do to survive? should we start focusing on technology that can be used to move humans off of earth.

We will in the long run, save ourselves from all that we do. In reality, we really are young in our species and our culture. We have made our mistakes right along side our advances and we will fix things that get broke along the way. We are really short lived so we are frequently impatient with the speed of advances, and fixes. Sometimes it seems we are slow in our decisions and our resolve, but it always gets done. Our biology, though, may not allow us those billions of years, I don't know. DNA has never really been tested that long. It seems like the oldest specimens found of microbial life deep in the ices show some of them have not really changed since they we frozen (millions?) of years ago. That would be a bit of a good thing in species longevity. But I have a feeling that billions of years is pushing it, but we will see.

You dont really have to be worried about the sun dying cause its still 5.5 billion years away! What you have to be worried about now is us humans destroying our planet by pollution and by our wars cause if life still continue like this life on earth wont last

u dont have to worry. 1billion yrs is a long time.till that there might be many possibilities like another star. ora black hole u never no .to destroy earth only one armagedon[asteroid] is enough. life is to live and to be spent.

dude ur talking about something billons of years from now i think global warming will mess us up really bad and i heard about a metiour hitting earth 30 yrs from now there thinking to nuke it or put bomb on it and blow it up
