Sadly, it's mostly Gangsta (c)Rap - and junk like Justin Tenderflake...

It's rare to find anyone who has even HEARD of any of the classics - Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles...

The current generation has no idea what a GREAT band is - hopefully one day they will wake up, and realize that classic rock is called CLASSIC for a reason ;););)

Anyone who claims there is a complete dearth of great bands out right now just isn't looking past what the radio and mtv feeds them. The Arcade Fire is putting out some amazing stuff right now. A lot of White Stripes tracks can rock with the best of them. Lyrically, Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel may be the greatest poet of our generation. And who's to say Radiohead or the Decemberists won't be remembered in 20 years. I love classic rock, but I could name recent and current bands across a multitude of genres that could be considered great. Just because something may not live up to the Beatles (and nothing will in my opinion), doesn't mean music starts and stops with them and their generation.

I mostly listen to bands like Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Skillet, Evans Blue, Evanescence, and others.
I also like classic rock a lot!
Rolling Stones, Doors, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Eagles.

The thing is though, 90% of the people I know haven't even heard of the bands I like, which sucks, they are all great bands.

I listen mostly to bands like Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace. I'm not a fan of most pop, rap or any of that emo stuff. I do listen to alot of classic rock, like AC/DC, Van Halen, Journey. I think that is great music and I'm in my early twenties.
