I lived all my life in alaska cept for the last 4 years, and not once have i seen a polor bear cept for the ones in the zoo. and yes there are "other stuff there."

depends on where you go and what you are into. most major cities, starting from larges to smallest, Anchorage and Fairbanks, both have military bases (also apart of the US), Juneau, Seward, Ketchican, all are costal cities. (there are alot more cities, just didnt want to list them all)
some cities you cant get to unless you fly or go by boat. There is the Alaska Marine Hwy which is a ferry system that spans most of Alaskas waters. There are Hwys that go from the "lower 48," states, into canada and then into alaska. This of course being called the Alaskan Hwy.
We have the largest amount of bears and our nations bird the Bald Eagle. We have moose, elk, carribou, hell even rabbits. Damn near everytown has at least two or three major fast food chains. Most places have Malls. Its not like a thrid world country or anything.

Yes, in some areas all there is is ice and polar bears. However, Alaska is a huge state and it all depends on where you are thinking of. In many ways when you are in the big cities of Anchorage and Fairbanks you would think you were in any city in America. Do some research, look at photos, watch some TV programs about Alaska. Overall, it is amazing!

Alaska is a beautiful state. A land of contrast. In the southern part they experience a lot of rain. And rather reminds one of the rain forest in Washington.

The capital of this large state is Juneau. Population is about 25,000. And the only way in and out is by boat or air. The last time I was there three cruise ships were docked. Each carrying about 7,000 passengers. Just about doubling the daily population.

There are several cruise liners that travel just within Alaska. Locals use them to travel about the state. Put their cars on and off at various destination points.

Areas close to Anchorage have very fertile fields use to grow vegetables, and more. And of course the farther north you go, then the more artic the climate.

No. Alaska looks alot like the Pacific Northwest during the summer. It is great for camping and hiking and most of the bears are brown or black. The stuff you see on the discovery channel is on the north slope in an area that is mostly uninhabited.
