I know that some authors have written their way out of deep depressions. I've been having a hard time writing lately. Does anyone have any advice on how to turn depression/pain into fictional writing? I'd just like some tips, if you've got any. Thanks!

Emotions alone are not enough. Writing is both art and craft. Emotions can help you with the art part, but not with the craft part. Also, what makes you think the way out of your depression is through writing as opposed to, say, drawing, sculpting, or dancing?

While writing down everything about you and changing things up a bit is a really awesome idea, you might also want to try expressing your emotions in poetry. Even just journaling how you feel on a daily basis as well as what you are doing to cope with it would be a great way to work through your depression.
I hear ya, sister, I've suffered through major bouts of depression myself and I can relate. But writing alone won't be enough, you need to keep a good track of how you feel on a daily basis and recognize what triggers your bouts of feeling blue.
I am admitting freely to being in therapy for my depression and I will tell you why. If you get out of bed in the morning (afternoon...whatever ::grins::) that is the best step! If you get dressed, that's just a bonus for the day! Did you eat breakfast or just turn your nose up at it? Every routine thing you do is an accomplishment and a long stride towards getting better.
I wish you luck and happy thoughts. ;)

There is no simple answer to this question.
All authors have one thing in common: They are very creative persons. Otherwise its impossible to write books. So if youre creative you can come up with story ideas based around your feelings. Otherwise just try to write a memoar about your life. That is a good help. Johan

hey you are on the right track. all famous writers thought like you one time. what you can do try making just the plots and some day try enlarging it. try interesting things.

Write everything about you, then change the name. And add characters or things you wish you have now. have fun
