I believe that it depends on the situation. I personally don't think I could ever get an abortion but then I would never put a child up for adoption either. Whilst most babies that are put up for adoption may have no difficulty being placed, children with a disability are likely to be hard to place with an adoptive family. Also, if abortion were not legal, the number of babies needing homes way very well out number the number of homes available, therefore leaving a large number of children growing up in orphanages. I think that whilst abortion may seem like an easy way out and it is certainly not. Many women who take this option have emotional troubles for the rest of their lives. I don't believe in abortion as a form of birth control.. (i.e. if you are ot responsible enough to use protection than you should be prepared for the consequences) but I can accept that it may be an option for rape victims, women who are pregnant with a child with a disability (or may have another child at home with a disability and cannot take on the responsibility of another baby... many would say that adoption is the best option here but pregnancy is not always a walk in the park. Imagine having a child that requires full time care, and you are the only one that can provide this, and you fall pregnant despite taking all the precautions and have terrible morning sickness, complications etc.. how are you supposed to take careof your child). It has taken me a long time to work out where I stand on abortion/adoption and was always confused at how I could be so against it but then accept it at the same time and it's quite simple really... I am against it for myself. At this stage in my life I don't believe that either abortion or adoption will ever have a place in my life and can only hope that my circumstances remain as such. I truly feel sorry for any women who feels as though aborion or adoption are her only two options.
I hope all this makes sense as it's pretty scrambly! And when I refer to women, I am not trying to exclude the male partner, it's just easier for the purpose of writing

As you asked, in my opinion, adoption is the best. For many reasons.
First off, I have had friends that have had abortions, and when they have been ready to have children, they have had problems.
Second, the emotional stress on the mother along with aborting a fetus (or baby, depending on your point of view). The hardship a mother may feel later in life once making this decision is everlasting. Can't be changed.
Adoption, this gives a person the opportunity to give life to a couple who may otherwise not have one. Pros...the child is alive, has a good home, by parents that love him'/her. Cons: The mother will feel guilty of giving up her baby, will feel alone, and almost in a grieving state. But knowing her baby is alive and well, will help her recover.
Needless to say, I used to be pro-'abortion' as opposed to pro'life'. These days I consider myself neither. It should be the mothers choice. However, I think its so important for every Mother or Mom to Be, to know the consequences/emotions that come along with abortion. At the same time, raising a child, also has many responsiblities, that certain people may not be prepared for.
Take Care,
Heather

well.....while I personally am against abortion, I am pro-choice. I think it is a highly personal decision. I do, however, think adoption is the better way to go, both in the short term and long run. There are soooo many families wanting and waiting to adopt, and the wait can be up to a few years in some cases. Also, I think that sometimes there can be guilt if one has an abortion, but that chance would be eliminated if they chose to put the child up for adoption instead. It isn't so finite. ;)

I am someone who feels that it is about circumstances! I feel overall that abortion is wrong! HOWEVER, if a pregnancy is caused by rape or incest, then I think that abortion isn't a bad choice.
However, my being a person who may not being able to have my own child, I have to say otherwise abortion is a very selfish choice! Not that it isn't selfish if it were from the above mentioned reasons, but I could never carry a child for 9 months that was the result of rape, and incest is unhealthy for babies, so it's a less selfish choice. But if it isn't a good time, etc, that is a reason to choose adoption!
I cry, at least daily, and things are always being broken in my house (because I tend to throw them) because it hurts so bad that I can't have a child! So why not give someone like me a chance to have a child to raise and love! My husband and I would give anything in the world to be able to have our own child, but no matter, it's just not working! Why be selfish, give someone like us a chance to have a baby to raise and love!
My brother in law was adopted and he is greatful to his parents, both adoptive and birth, because he was given a chance at a GREAT life!

I and probably alot of people will answer adoption. Only because you give the baby a chance at life and i watched adoption stories where children were thankful there parents gave them away to people instead of killin them. you can pick the family, meet the family, and if you want in some cases you can get pictures sent in the mail of your baby. But some women don't want to do adoption because they don't want to explain in 18 years why they gave them away. Or they don't want to have that feeling that there is a baby out there they gave birth to and they want it back. Some people think abortion is better because there body won't go through the physical changes and they won't end up getting attached to the baby kicking and moving and change there mind and keep it. Its considerably up to you because the hardest thing to do is either abort or give away your baby. it takes alot of strength to go through either one... Good luck to you.

Because life is a sacred gift from God, adoption honors both the child's life and God the Creator of life.
To take the life of the child is to disrespect both the child and the Creator. Abortion says I know better than God. That puts a woman herself into a position of disrespect.
Fear is not a positive motivation.
Indifference and disregard for a child is deplorable, so why is it any different if the child is simply younger?
Given a tiny kitten to hold in your hand, would you
tear its limbs off and put it in the garbage disposal?
Or would you carefully, gently, and regretfully hand off that tiny kitten to hands willing to hold it?
Life comes out of hope. Hope brings Love.

Abortion is murdering the most innocent and defenseless of all humans. So many people kill what so many pray every day for and put morgages on the houses and properties for. What else do people pray and pay so much for other than a life?
