Why would a person who I don't even talk to anymore and haven't talked to since a year ago, apologize a year later for something that really wasn't anything that was more my fault why they did it, and not say anything else?

F that, if they apologize a year later it means someone made them do it and they aren't really sorry, they are probably doing it because someone made them, but keep plotting revenge, they still deserve it

Sometimes when people make mistakes a quick way to feel better is to remove themselves from the situation. After a while their conscience can begin to weigh them down and they finally build up the strength to apologize.

There are two types of apologies: the sincere ones (which are rare) and the "I am apologizing because I want to put my mind to rest" apologies. Sometimes it is better to move on... but don't make a rule out of it.

do u know that the most sweetest thing in this world is forgiving and apologizing? i think that they need u, but they took a long time to tell u that. From this u can understand that they've corrected their fault.and when u r gonna take a decision remember that they need u, and if not they dont wanna apolagize after a long time.

Perhaps the person did some thinking and decided to make up for things, albeit late.

Clearly, the person wants to smoothen things out between you two again. If you're okay with that, then go ahead and accept their apology. Maybe they've come to some hard points in life and realized they value your friendship.

maybe they have decided to do the 12 step program of AA, and you are on the list. or not. they just might have matured some and wanted to make ammends. accept it and move on, it's not binding that you now become the best friend. just the gesture, made you think about the issue.

They were probably making their 9th step. That is, once a recovering alcoholic or addict makes it to step 9, they must make amends to everyone they had harmed, no matter how slight the harm was.
