The one thing that is not monotored by the OBD2 system is fuel pressure. Next time turn on the key and crank if it does not start turn off the key and try again a couple of key cycles. I am thinking the electric fuel pump check valve gets stuck and fuel pressure drops hot engine boils the fuel in the lines causing a long crank time and almost a no start.
LS-1 warning! oil pressure has to be present for the fuel pump to run so also make sure your car's oil level is correct. And running oil cap removed you see oil spraying around in the valve cover Watch out hot exhaust manifolds and oil may catch fire. Some LS-1's experence oil pump problems.

I have worked around cars for years, and happen to sell GM cars for a living (Pontiacs are one of the brands I sell). I have to say that the Ford is not hard on the eyes by any shape of the imagination, however if you go back to the original GTO, you need to remember that the car was nothing to look at. It started out as nothing more than a1964 Lemans with a 389 Ponriac engine in it (read sleeper) .Fast forward to the 2004-2006 GTO. It uses the same basic formula as the original. It just happens to ramp up the performance to a level that way above the norm. So if you are going for shear beauty, then I would have to say the nod goes to the Mustang (let's face it the car is darn pretty), but for the sleeper look with tire shredding, eye flattening performance, that will glue a grin on your face that even the taxman can't remove, I'll go with the GTO every time.

You should be askingthis question the the Chevy area.

The car you have is an import with a chevy engine, it's not a Pontiac, it's not a GTO and it's not American.

Your problems sounds like a fuel issue and or a PCM problem.

Hook up a fuel pressure guage start the engine and have sombody watch the pressure as you rev the engine.

It could be that the pressure is fine for normal driving but when you stomp it the flow is not catching up. Your pump could be failing, as electric pumps fail they dont pump as much making a "lean" condition.

Has anyone messed with the PCM? Aftermarket anything on the engine?

I hope this points you tward the problem.

Good luck.

had a similar issue in my car, turns out the maf was dirty and just needed cleaning. however it could be a number of things. what happens exactly before the car stalls out? its a longshot but it maybe a fueling issue. make sure your running the right fuel grade, if your spec'd for 91 i suggest shell v-power--look it up, it seems to be the best 91 on the market, also try an injector cleaner, they're relitivly cheap and maybe a simple solution to your problem. hope this helps.

Hello! I had a similar problem on one I worked on. It had raw fuel getting into the evap. purge solenoid. When the car is running rough shut it off and then pull off the hose at the purge solenoid. If you find raw fuel there you have to find out why. There should only be vapor there.
Good luck, hope this helps!
