I've never seen a meteor shower before. I live Houston, TX and there's too much light to see many stars usually at night so I'd like suggestions for places to view nearby. How far do I need to get away from the city?

Hi Runner,
go to http://www.space.com. I get the daily newsletter, and today's letter had an article about where to see it from.

On another subject -where do you run in Houston? I can't stand to walk outdoors here!

You can see it from your back yard, but you just can't see all of it. Where I live, deep in the heart of Memorial, there are plenty of lights, but I still manage to see meteor showers.

What matters more is the time of night. Usually after midnight for the Perseids.

Go to the George Observatory south of downtown...somewhere near the Rosharon area.
