programs favor those who make no impact on society and just leach off the system?

Make no mistake, tax cuts help EVERYONE across the board. Look, if 4 of us sat down for dinner and the bill came to $100. One person pays 60% of the bill, one 30%, one 10% and the last guy ate for free. Then the server comes back and reduces the bill by 10%.... Who got the biggest tax cut? Well... the rich guy got $6.00 back while the other two only got $3 and $1 and the last guy didn't get anything! Everyone got the same break.. those that put the most into the system would appear to get the most back.. But they put the most in... still more than the other three combined! The poor guy STILL ate for free. However, notice that because the discount was given 3 of those guys went out to eat more often and allowed the dead weight to come along... they kept the server in a job and helped the restraunt stay in business... the restraunt hires more people and so on... get the point here?

mom2jjorion.... that is really all you saw? Class envy and redistribution of wealth. So you don't believe in being rewarded for your hard or smart work? You believe that those that did risk it all and worked hard to acheive what they have should take care of those who chose not to? Very interesting.

cantcu... the rich put nothing into the system huh??? Please wake up...

http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/incometaxandtheirs/a/whopaysmost.htm

In 2002 the latest year of available data, the top 5 percent of taxpayers paid more than one-half (53.8 percent) of all individual income taxes, but reported roughly one-third (30.6 percent) of income.

The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid 33.7 percent of all individual income taxes in 2002. This group of taxpayers has paid more than 30 percent of individual income taxes since 1995.

Yep... looks like they don't pay anything into the system huh?

It has always been an cheap talking point of liberals to demonize those who are successful as being greedy and "fortunate". This only illustrates a large part of the following Democrat voter demographic: jealous, uneducated, ignorant, and/or socialist.

Democrats will stay in power as long as the poor are given anything they want for free with the redistribution of wealth--a la higher taxes. Your example proved a point that educated Democrats in office already know, they just refuse to admit it to their constituents. Obviously those who pay the most in taxes will get more back when there are tax cuts across the board for ALL economic classes. When 10% of the population pays 90% in taxes, it's not rocket science that those who pay more in taxes will get more back.

But as long as Democrats convince their liberal base that profits are bad and success is evil, they will get their votes from those who gladly leech off of taxpayers and depend on the government for everything (socialized medicine is next on their list). It's liberal propaganda.

This is what educated Liberals/Democrats refuse to admit/realize: Profits to companies always equal more jobs, higher wages to employees, more capital investment, and a stronger economy. The more you punish the upper class (who are usually the business owners) with higher taxes, the more likely wages will drop and number of jobs will decrease. Of course an uneducated/brainwashed person won't understand this. Liberals thrive on emotion and there's nothing easier than accusing Conservatives of being greedy. In reality, the middle-class is hurt more than the upper-class when taxes are raised (the upper class is rich enough, right jealous liberals??)

Liberals who believe the government should use its coercive power to force people to give more money to inefficient and corrupt social programs are grossly naive. Take a trip to a DMV and you'll see how effectively/efficiently the government runs programs. Free markets made America as strong as it is today. Unfortunately, liberal fiscal policy makes us move backwards, not "progressively" forward. If liberals had their way, our economy would be so crippled by their socialist policies that they wouldn't have a job to be able to afford their trendy Mac book.

Your common sense falls on deaf ears. Liberals reject simple economics and rational thought. This is why you and I will vote for a conservative and not a liberal.

The problem here is that the liberals and democrats have more of a communistic view regarding taxes, they want to re-distribute wealth; Taking for the people that have either worked very hard to get where they are or were lucky enough to be born into wealth.

Their view is wrong and defeats the very purpose of living in this great country where a person can rise from poverty to great wealth through hard work, innovation or as easy as a lucky lottery ticket.

Where is the incentive to work harder and smarter if the government is going to take what you earn and give it to those that have no desire to work.

Now there are people that do need social programs, those that are disabled and the elderly, Social Security is often considered a social program but the fact is that you pay into Social Security from the day you get your first job and continue paying into it until you retire; The government has seen fit to make SSI payments taxable income so I view this as a form of double taxation because you paid taxes on the money that you earned (gross income) and the SSI tax was deducted from that gross.

Liberals will deny the fact that almost all income taxes are paid by the rich even when the facts are staring them in the face. The rich not only contribute more in taxes, they invest in companies which allow the companies to hire more people and produce more products. These jobs are taken by people and they now have the means to purchase more products.

But then again, I don't think the liberals will ever get the point, the prefer to play Robin Hood.

Tax cuts DO favor the rich, BUT...there is NOTHING WRONG or UNFAIR with that! BOTH SIDES need to quit jackin' off and just tell it STRAIGHT.

Liberals need to admit that if we're going to have a Progressive Tax Code, then linearity demands that the rebates/cuts also will be progressive.
Conservatives... and that includes you, need to Quit Denying The Obvious...that the Biggest Contributors reap the Biggest Returns, as they should.

You're also blowing smoke when you state that all social programs favor those who make no impact on society. That is ONLY TRUE of the programs that FIT YOUR IDEOLOGICAL LEANING because:

ALL of us BENEFIT from the SOCIALIZED Fire and Police Departments.
ALL of us benefit from a socialized Armed Forces.
ALL of us benefit from socialized Education.
ALL of us benefit from a socialized Highways and Roads network.
ALL of us benefit from socialized Air Traffic Control.

I have no problem being called a Liberal. I wear the label proudly. I don't come from a history worth "conserving". But for ALL of the hyperbole and outright lies that get tossed around here, the VERY REAL admission is that without the other, we're ALL "fuqued". Now, THAT NEVER GETS AIRED!

The cuts were not proportional.. And MOST lower class people did not notice any change.. pennies maybe.. While the upper class saw cuts in the tens of thousands.. Minor difference.. The reason the 1 % pays 70% of the taxes, is that 1 % has 90% of the wealth and income in this country. They get their income, by underpaying the rest of the 99 % of the population, by outsourcing jobs, cutting benefits, and eliminating job security. America, has one of the LARGEST income gaps in the world.

Ryan with economics reality 101. Good work.

Id just like to add that many liberals try to make the point about welfare that "its what Jesus would do." And I hate to burst their bubble, but Jesus wasnt for big govt. He NEVER viewed the govt of men as a solution to anything. He viewed this world as a graveyard in need of spiritual resurrection. He did do miracles and help people physically. He did advocate helping the poor. But he did so appealing to people on a personal level stressing PERSONAL accountablility and action. He didnt say make a huge inneficient govt to force people to.

Giving to the poor IS what Jesus would do. Forcing people to give to the poor isnt not what Jesus did at all. Giving to the poor is much like rape. If its forced, then what was the point? Jesus said we will always have the poor with us and its not simply because rich people exist.

You have no point!

The rich put NOTHING into the system, they TAKE from it at a much higher rate than all the social programs combined!

And your condescending attitude should be reserved for those on corporate welfare, who hire illegals under no bid government contracts!

"Only the little people pay taxes"..Leona Helmsley

They put very little into the system, and they take the most from it! The top 50% pay almost all the taxes. You have any idea what the average salary is for the top 50%? $44,000!

The top 1%, own 90% of all the wealth in this country, but they are no where near the top taxpayers! They are getting Tax cuts and write-offs. You have heard of them I suppose!

The top 50% pay 97% of the taxes and the largest group in 66 million households was $40,000. Of the top 1% there are 2.6 million households that earn between $200,000 and $500,000 a year. And in the top 0,5% ,there are 330,000 households out of 132 million filing taxes. There AVERAGE income is between $800,030 and 26.5 Million a year! So who pays the most taxes?

You can play with the numbers all you want, bet you aren't going to change the facts!

AND PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT!

Source: Internal Revenue Service. Percentiles based on adjusted gross income.

Got that! "ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME"!

You make a great point about the rich!
They have enough money to help ease any burdens of the middle-class.
Oh, and social programs benefit everybody. Did you go to public schools? Are you not going to take your SS when you qualify? What about medicare? Are you self-employed where you get tax breaks such as subsidized healthcare? What industry do you work in and does that industry receive favorable trade and/or tariff benefits from the government. I could go on and on about this...The fact is, many of these economic programs assist the rich to get richer and as such, they are nothing more than social programs. In fact, many of these programs shift income from government subsidies (income) from the poor to the rich. Don't go telling me that you got rich all on your own! Do you not live in a country that gave you the freedom and opportunity to become wealthy and if that is the case then why are you so adverse to giving back!?
And besides, it is in our best interest as a country to take care of those who need it.
I just don't think that people living in mansions and playing on yachts need to keep getting richer while the rest of America is in squalor.
