On personal letters I use blue because it stands out more. But I have worked for several State and Federal agencies and most of them require black ink on all forms. In the U.S. Army there is a formal policy that prevent any official document from having any color other than black ink used on it. I always use black on work documentation. I think it's more formal. Plus it makes me enjoy writing with blue ink whenever I get the chance.

Black because it is more professional than blue. I like blue but black stands out.

i prefer black but i don't think blue is any less professional but i do think those gel pens that are like neon green that can't hardly be seen with the fluffy feathers on them would be unprofessional if any color ink is. but i think black and blue ink would be the most professional of all because do you really ever see a professional with any other color pen?

I prefer blue, but that's only because it's my favorite color I imagine.

If I am using a pen for a schooling assignment I'll use black ink though.

Who have you heard this from? Blue or black is considered professional.

Well black copies better and its better transmissible via fax.
But I prefer blue ink, especially if I am writing on paper that is black and white. I can see where I wrote.

Blue is my favorite color. Plus, you can tell if a document has been copied easier if you use blue ink. A person can just glance at the paper and see that it is an original.

I'm a nurse and we have to use black ink. Haven't you ever noticed that all those ink pens with a medicine logo on them are black? It's because we nurses steal them from the docs!
