i think designers have discovered this was a bad idea in recent years i haven't seen a new home with a carpeted bathroom in forever. I'm like you its actually quite gross.

I don't think that carpet in a bathroom is a good choice. A bath mat is the better idea. they can be washed in the washing machine. I have tile in all of the baths. We also use rubber backed mats to provide some safety for traction when you get out of the tub. good luck.

I would certainly keep rugs out of the bathroom. It is easier to wash the floor when you have tile in the washroom. Rugs look nice, but for sanitary reasons tile would be a 100% better choice.

I had carpet in our washroom and removed it. there is no way to clean it 100% and prevent odours. The odours usually men mould; some of which can be ahrmful and/or deadly.
Get rid of it fast and replace it with tiles (ceramic, asphault, etc) or vinyl flooring.
Good Luck.

I think you should replace the carpets with the new rubber carpets which are washable and won't absorb water so it will never be soggy.
