Assuming you are looking at some form of engineering (which is the only thing all of these are known for), I would put MIT at the top of the list. None of them are bad, but it is the strongest in that area. There is no such school as Annapolis - do you mean the USNA, which is in the town of Annapolis? Ignoring that one, I'd probably put UCI at the bottom of this list, since it is better-known for more qualitative subject matters, putting it in another category altogether.

MIT, CAL Tech and UC Berkeley are the top three engineering schools in the US -- in that order.

Harvard ranks above them in nearly everything except engineering and some sciences (though Berkeley ranks above Harvard in a few fields like English Literature and MIT ranks above Harvard in Economics).

UC-Berkeley is better than UCLA which is better than UC-Irvine.

Berkeley and MIT have the best undergraduate business schools on your list (HBS only takes graduate students).

Annapolis doesn't really compare to the others. It is probably the most selective on the list (which is saying something) -- but is not nearly as good academically as any of them. That being said -- it is THE place to go if you want to be a naval officer or an officer in the Marines.

I know people who have gone to all of these schools (I got my PhD at Berkeley and have taught at MIT). All will give you a great education.

On a personal level -- if I were accepted to all of those colleges -- I would choose MIT.

Regarding what other people have said -- Berkeley is nobody's safety school. On the undergraduate level, it is the top rated public university in the US. On the graduate level, many people consider it the best school in the US. It has more programs ranked in the top ten than any other school (including all those on this list).

well they are all good/bad for different reasons...if i were to list the best from best to worst...

harvard - you go in there being told everyday that you are going to be future leaders, ceo's, etc...so you come out with that mentality but the pressure can be too much

MIT - in the top 10 schools in the US, beautiful location, not as intense as harvard so you might feel more comfortable

Annapolis - another respectable school

UCLA - great school, shitty location

Cal-Tech

UC Berkelely - Ok school, if you have Harvard and MIT on your list, why are you looking at a school like this, safety?

UCI

MIT is best for engineering, they provide more EE courses than any other University.
I don't like Cal-Tech because they have many homeworks and requrements.
