I am 70, in chronic pain, and it is difficult for me to feel relaxed, so when I do have a few hours of a happy and productive mood, it is easily shattered. Negative thoughts come out of nowhere and change everything. I start to hurt more, get irritable, start crying and feel worthless and hopeless. The only thing that seems to help is falling asleep. It re-boots me and I feel better. I take my meds and eat regularly, trying to eliminate sugar lows. I have a good therapist who tells me not to pay attention to them, because they get worse. I make an effort to distract myself, especially by getting outside and going somewhere around people. My kitties calm me down by their purring in my lap or by playing with their toys and being highly entertaining. I have an upbeat friend to call. She can be silly and laughs easily. I have learned to eat protein often in the day, to balance the carbs. I read positive thinking books and Scripture. All these help, but I can be so nasty before I get it back under control that I'm constantly apologizing. I want to head these mood shifts off in the first place!

sometimes very rapidly...but only to the anger side...I dont just feel happy all of the sudden for no reason. for the most part, I am neither happy or angry or sad or anything...I am just here worrying about nothing.
