im just wondering if i shouldve stayed unhappy in the relationship??

It all depends on what you wanted and what you got out of the relationship and, even more importantly, how much abuse you were willing to take. If your personality is one of submissiveness and self-destruction, then you, like many abused women, will continue to stay where you are and not seek alternatives.
If it was an abusive relationship, one where perhaps you were physically beaten, or even emotionally abused, there would be nothing you could get from any relationship that would justify staying for that...and the answer is simple, you'd be better off alone where at least you'd be safe from harm.
But the bottom line is this...we don't WANT to be unhappy in any kind of relationship, and we need to do what is best for our own welfare and get to a place where we have piece of mind, free from any danger or threats...this is basic to us all.
And, who's to say you'd be "alone lonely"...there would certainly be opportunities for you to find another, someone who would treat you with kindness and ensure you the happiness you seek.

I was unhappy in my marriage and it was really bad. Now I am alone and much happier. I am not lonely most of the time and was still lonely when married. I would never want to go back to unhappy.

I think I'd rather be lonely than unhappy..because you can always change being lonely..but if you're unhappy, then it's pointless to stay in the relationship

It's better to be alone. There is no reason to stay in A relationship that makes you miserable. The feeling of loneliness will pass and you will move on from the experience stronger for knowing that you did the right thing.

it's definitely better to be lonely then unhappy because if you're unhappy usually you are lonely and it's not fair to anybody because if one is unhappy then everyone is unhappy
