Yahoo! Southeast Asia would like to recognize Answers members in the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore and asked to feature me to share a little about why I use Answers and what I've learnt from it.

I would like to grab this golden opportunity to raise legitimate issues with regards Y!A Philippines Travel that seem to have been overlooked by Y!A due to thousands and thousands of communications and abuse reports they receive.

I already have some points in mind; but, I do need more input and suggestions from Y!AP users. I was looking for Inday's and Sweetwater's proposal but can no longer find it. Papa Chuck's and other users’earlier suggestions:
http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArKb3KspEhZ3VzpXftoModvh5gt.?qid=20070727002730AAKAoCo&show=7#profile-info-3bb0b5bff7cd4675f60ec1a3d17fd222aa already noted.

Any more comments and suggestions or issues you might like Y!A to address?

Thanks in advance!

BTW, is there anyone who saved and can send me links to the troll clan, et. al. Q'&A's?

Wow, look, no TD's! Is this a first?

THANK YOU, one and all, for your inputs! I'm having a hard time choosing the best answer. You all deserve it.

Fingers crossed, I hope Y!A will hear us.

Felicitations to you, and may you carry the banner of YAP with distinction and pride.

I am just a neophyte, and both Papa Chuck and Inday have given the best there is.

Only, I would like to inject this page with color. Humor you could take with you to the battlefield.

Up to now, I don't really mean the actual meaning of Trolls in Cyberspace, except for someone who was fishing. But I believe the seniors in YAP find them damaging to the forum.

How about telling the trolls that as a rule of conduct, they should each end their answers with: "Very TROLLy yours"?

May I take this opportunity to greet Joe, who answered after Papa Chuck, and beg his indulgence. Please forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

While I am not from the Philippines, I often come here in an attempt to learn more about the country and things thet are unique about the people there. I was there for 10 days earlier this summer and loved the trip.
What I find the most disappointing is that the Philippine people here dont discuss much of the subject it is here for - travel - and instead, use it for personal issues instead. I know a certain amount of these issues are just part of who they are and can be expected, but a great deal of the banter that goes on here should be routed to another space within ANSWERS or the people setting up the guidelines should change then to include anything and everything on someone's mind.

Congratulations, shirley g, they've made a right decision in selecting you.

Here are my thoughts so far:

1) I agree with Inday's and Big Chuck's suggestions.

2) Having an X-rated avatar in itself can be considered posting obscene content, a violation of CG, hence I agree there's no need for that. Also, the use of objectionable IDs can be interpreted as violation and must not be allowed. This would be easier to manage with little human intervention since the usernames are just text and can be filtered by passing them through a dictionary of objectionable names.

3) Don't display the questions of users I have blocked. I won't be answering their questions anyway, which are just cluttering the page, and only pushing legitimate questions down to the second page. (Users would have different displays since they would have different blocked users.)

4) Under the "Answer Open Questions" tab, in "View by:", right now the questions can be viewed and sorted by "Date" (date the question was posted) and by "No. of Answers". I suggest adding a third view and sort option - by date the question was answered - which will add the ability to sort the questions by most (or least) recently answered.

Wow, congratulations!

What I would probably suggest would be for the Yahoo Answers crew or staff to properly screen all the violation reports they get. The problem I see is that when a whole bunch of trolls decide to make you a target, all the trolls will simply have to report you and you instantly get a violation and even a suspension. They shold be a bit more discriminative and analyze the post before deletion. And they should also be in the know of what actually goes on in the sections, such as who are the trolls, and the like.

I won't compare to a singular person but the narcissist intellectual types are what truly concerns me because they DO have high intelligence and have the degrees to show it but somehow they manage to never learn from anyone. And myself? I am not bragging when I tell you I had the intelligence quotient to put me in their ranks- yet too strong were the forces of destiny that took me away from higher learning when I was younger, and instead I developed social and emotional intelligence. Now I am in school with 20 somethings at 45 and my grades average a 3.6 so far. Not the scores of a genius, but I DO NOT CARE as I would once have. My studies are for a Psychology degree and I am specializing in PTSD, most likely I will work for the VA. And I will be there to help. And I make errors in my writing, I am lousy at meter, I overlook typos- but it is ok because that has no bearing on my purpose- the love of poetry in every shape and form and skill level, reading as well as writing. I adore your poem-story, I enjoy this type of poem and the way you broke it into stanzas is uncommon and therefore interesting. Thank you friend.

Yahoo certainly does have some brilliant moments too...your selection proves that...congratulations!

Here's the proposal that I posted a month or so ago (that yahoo deemed was a vio...ah, one of their dumb moments)...

Based on sweetwater's idea, I suggested that our Y!A screen name be unique...i.e., no one else can have it. In other words,
there will only be one Pao, one Shirley G., one Felicity, etc....

Obviously what this would prevent is cloning (which is a favorite past time of the tr0lls) so we won't have to deal anymore with multiple Wells.

Here's a new suggestion: Remove the TDs. Most people use it recklessly anyway. Just keep the TUs.

As Jay and Gigi say the 'X' rated Avatars there is no need for that here.
Inday's/Sweetwater's suggestion is good too because the Clones tend to confuse people and at the same time attack the original character.

Congratulations. Hope you have some success

Haaay Salamat! [translation: Ooooh Thank you!]

... I agree with "Joe"...

Okay side comment but related to topic:
If people want love advice, I don't think it should be posted here... nakakainis basahin... [translation: its annoying to read]
There are sites or shows dedicated for such things....
Those type of questions/comments be-little Filipinos...

Nakakahiya sa mga ibang tao, [translation: i feel embarrased that other people are reading those things]
that are still new to the Filipino culture or nature... We're not all like that, right?

Congrats !!!!!!
The cloning and the sex avatars seem to be the worst. But a lot more people have better reasons than I can think of at this moment.
