I was reading about Bush's new military adviser Lt. General Douglas Lute saying, "The Draft is worth considering". http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/081107Y.shtml

As for me, I came of age in 1980 when Carter reinstated the Selective Service System, and, in all honesty, it scared the pants off me, then. So, I greeted this news with mixed feelings, like maybe I'd like to see them try it, just to give the younger generation the same run for their money...
How about you? How would you feel if Bush reinstated the Draft?

I am a proud wife of a US soldier! And my motto is : my husband joined the army... so yours dont get drafted! If there was a draft what would we be fighting for....it wouldnt be freedom, now would it.

I'm opposed to it. The military is so specialized, that unless you choose it for a career, you will just not become expert in your field. The commercials for the army show lots of action shots like jumping out of planes, but even being a mechanic on the planes and tanks practically takes a degree in electronics.

Not in favor of it. This country is so screwed up I would not fight for it. We take better care of terrorists and illegals than we do our own people. We have people like this Mexican lady breaking the law hiding out in a church in Chicago and don't do anything about her yet we charge our soldiers for murder for split second decisions they have to make that politicians can second guess for weeks. If they imposed a draft I would refuse to go and sit in jail or go to Canada

It may be a good idea. My Dad (a Veteran) says that every able-bodied young man should have to serve in the military for at least two years.

good idea- i think every boy should have to spend two years in the military- it would make them grow up and teach them responsibilities- i mean really look at the younger generation. they will be taking care of us and running this country when we get old- that scares the **** out of me
