You can only attack your own monster due to the effect of Ancient Lamp or Magical Arm Shield, or basically any other card that changes the attack target to one of your own monsters. You can also attack your own monster if it is on the other side of the field, but then again the monster wouldn't be yours now would it? haha...lol

Only if your opponent used an effect like Ancient Lamp or Magical Arm Shield. You can't deliberately attack a monster on your own field.

Just to add on to what has already been said (all of which is entirely correct):
-You can be forced to attack one of your own monsters, but you cannot choose to attack one of your own.
