Without more information, I would have to guess that your processor is overheating. This happens a lot in hot weather. I know this because I have a P4 3.0 Ghz, and it used to overheat all the time, until I turned up the fan speed in BIOS. This stopped the overheating problem.

Hardware either works or doesn't. It sounds like the OS has a problem. You didn't say what the operating system was so all I can do is guess, but if it is XP and you have the original Windows install CD, press the key during boot up and boot to safe mode. Then click start, run. In the box type "sfc /scannow" (no quote marks) and click OK. This will check the system files and ask for the CD to get any it cannot find or ones that are damage.
If you need more help, ask again with details of what's wrong and what the OS is.

Could be a couple of things.

A bad CPU fan

A bad case fan

Viruses

If it stays on for a while, go to www.pandasoftware.com and run a FREE on line scan.

If you don't hear the fans going, you probably need to replace them.

Don't know if this is a laptop or desktop.

Hope this helped.
