Why do you have a month old pup away from mom and litter mates? I HOPE there is a good reason...Like the mom rejected it or something! Why do you have it? It DEFINITELY does not need to be put outside alone. At 4wks, the pups are just beginning to wean and still need nutrients from the mom. They also NEED the interaction with litter mates and discipline from mom and mates. THIS helps make the dog more stable/manageable. See if your "friend" will take the pup back til 8 weeks or even better 12. The pup is howling because it is lonely. It was taken away from mom too soon. It's something you'll have to get used to until the dog is comfortable. Puppies ARE a lot of work, plain and simple. You have to have a lot of time to devote to the puppy. maybe it's better you give it back...If you're gonna a lot, the pup isn't gonna get the attention it needs. Let someone else get her who can devote the time and effort into making a stable dog. Pits get a bad enough name as it is. I'm afraid you can't make the dog stable enough. Just confining it to the backyard all day with NO attention is not a life. I'm sorry. Hope you do the right thing. Sorry for your luck, but your friend should not have given you the pup so early! EDIT: It MIGHT work to put the pup with the other mother. She may not accept it, but if she does, that would be great!! Although, not too sure she will be getting th sort of dicipline and manner "training" she needs....As the other pups will be much smaller and younger than yours. She may be too rough, and the mother will be aggitated with all the corrections. It doesn't hurt to try though. She NEEDS this crutial time with littermates and mom. Try it and see if it works! Good luck!

We have weird noises and the weirdest things you can imagine. Furniture gets moved into the middle of the room, the bath fills up whilst we are out, all that kind of stuff, we even had what we thought was a fire, there was smoke billowing out of the room when the door was opened very slightly. The fire service came, they couldn't find any sign of fire, but the smoke was unbearable they had to use breathing apparatus, they said get a vicar to bless the house.

Yes mine does. The reason, for the most part, is temperature changes, and it's very common in the summer. In summer the inside is cool and outside is warm, and some parts of the house expand and others contract. At night when it cools down outside, the expanded parts contract again, making noises.

u mean like the wood in the house creaks?
that's because during the day time, when the temperature is higher, the wood frame of the house expands and when night time comes, colder temperature cools down your house, the wood frame shrinks causing movement within the wooden joints which then creates a friction force and some of that force is turned into sound energy, thus the "wood creaking" noises.

Yes, I hear the ice maker making ice and dropping it into the basket, the water filling up in the fridge, the air conditioner kicking on and off, coyotes howling, basset hound howling back, boards settling, the fan blowing air on things and making things move, the fish tank... etc. Nothing spooky or creepy. I'm sure it's just things like what I just mentioned. Soemtimes we let our mind play tricks on ourselves. Especially when we are already creeped out. We start to turn simple noises into things they're not. I wouldn't worry! :o)

Yes, sometimes I hear noises in the night coming from outside, such as wind, water and strange voices as if something not human was aproaching.
The only difference is that I don't live in a house. I live in an apartment.

I have a wall that has panelling on it, as the evening air cools it gets to a certain point and 'pops' loudly every night. Most noises are just that, walls cooling or heating, things shifting just from gravity, masked axe murderers in the dark, furniture creaking, floor boards popping from humidity, you know the usual stuff.

Yes. We just moved into this house and it takes time to get used to the noises it makes. My nerves are shot. My husband was out of town and I didn't sleep at all. The noise that was freaking me out - just the ice maker in the new fridge. I thought it was something much worse LOL!

Our central heat and air are right outside our window. When the fan comes on, a side panel of the unit pops out. Wakes me up every night at around 2 am

how long have you lived there and never noticed it until now? not all homes make noises...but depending on what the noises are....maybe your's is HAUNTED. Seriously. It happens. if it's just the house settling, no worries. do you hear footsteps? doors opening? drawers opening and closing? do you sometimes see shadows--or what's called "floaters"--(you think you see a shadow passing in the out of the corner of your eye.)
god, i'm freaking myself out. turn the lights on!
