It is best to vacuum the gravel and remove %25 of the water that way, once a week, but %40 percent every other week would be fine as well. Email me with any other questions, or check out the site in my profile

You should do a 25%-30% weekly water change on any tank. The reason percentages are always given for this type of question is because it doesnt matter the size of the tank as far as how hoften to do the change just how much water should be changed. If you vaccuum the gravel like nosoup said you will be removing more waste that builds up in your tank and getting much more out of doing the water changes.

I have a 10 gallon tank. I make it a habit to clean it every saturday with gravel cleaning (I do a a 20-25 percent water change, just basically just 2 gallons or so. Gravel cleaning is essential because since the volume of water is small, I cannot afford to have any little thing mess up the water parameter.
