Try installing Power DVD.

You might try buying and using a CD/DVD drive cleaner. It is designed to clean off the lasers that may have become dusty over time. Good luck.

If it's a computer for home use then call technical support and if it's a laptop then call technical support too. Or you can get an entirely new dvd-rom.
