It depends on exactly what kind of reinstallation disks that are being sold.
If they are selling Dell reinstallation disks - with the product key (this is vitally important) it will work.
Keep in mind the price - you can buy XP home installation disks on line for about $80.

If you want to reinstall Windows XP on your Dell computer, YES, you can purchase Windows XP Home Install CD and it will work fine.

Make sure that you buy a genuine Windows XP Installation Cd that comes with a valid key. Make sure not to buy an "upgrade" cd...you need the full version, installation cd.

no, if your system did not come with that items (like soundblaster) and you dont have the soundblaster card in the system there us a high chance that you will have the computer crashing, b/c you have software for hardware that is not there

you can either use the original os disks for that system -or- install (the same windows) you used (if you have a windows os only cd) [like win 2000 pro or win xp corporate ed] the only thing is that you will need to manually find the hardware that doesnt work for windows to install it [through add hardware in control panel]

The CD Key is already inside of your computer..
Don't pay big $$ for something like a CD that you already own. Your CD key is also listed on a sticker, stuck on the back of the cabinet or on the bottom.

You have a DELL, so that means they sold you a PC without the reinstall disk on purpose, to make extra cash later, when you need the disk. Best Buy and Circuit City are known for this trick. A way for the Geek Squad to cash in.

Now, you have a DELL, that comes with a licensed copy of Windows, and you want to fix that, with a legal copy of Windows. You paid for it, with the purchase of the PC that came with Windows.

GOOD NEWS!
Any "Windows Install-Disk" that is Dell OEM, will work on your PC, and the CD KEy for that disk is already embedded inside of your PC, to ensure a genuine legal copy.

Borrow a DELL disk from a friend or...

Remember, for you as a DELL owner, downloading this file is not illegal, being that you are replacing something that you already paid for.
