Yes, 1996 was the worst year of my life, but it's been a strong and steady improvement since then. It's always just a passing thunderstorm that obscures the sun behind the clouds.

Not lately. But in the past I felt like that all the time.. but things are getting better, slowly but surely.

This past year, or so.

*My second divorce:

**The kids left me to live with their mom after six months with me.

**She so totally screwed them up, that I now have total custody of my daughter (court order), and total physical custody of my son.

**I'm so desperate for money, that I was eating raw vegetables and boiled rice for a few months, until my attorney told me that I had been paying too much to my (ex) wife.

***Money's STILL tough, though ...

*My job (public school P.E. teacher ) was so stressful (haters on the staff), that I ended up alluding to a "hostile workplace environment" lawsuit.

**Four years of badmouthing me in front of the students.

**I had inadvertently uncovered a "slacker" dept., after having been transferred there four years ago (after 18 yrs. as a classroom teacher ...).

***Teachers gossiping and snacking while the students sat in neat rows on the gymnasium floor for fully 1/2 of the entire instructional period.

***My students regularly outperformed the other classes in the dept. in state-mandated testing.

*I ended up having to have surgery for a serious bout with kidney stones.

**Unbelievably large stone (the doctors were even straight- faced about it).

**Catheters and a stint shoved up my pen*s several times over a six month period.

*I ruptured my left bicep during a martial arts tournament two months ago.

**I "should" regain about 90% of its total function.

**There was some sensory nerve damage (as well as the obvious motor nerve issues ...), so I couldn't feel any of the pain associated with this ...

I'm so tired of wading through this river of dog-poop, I just keep my eyes/ears open to God's guidance, because I know that I've done all that I can do.

*As tough as it's been for me to do (former military officer, JD., martial artist), God just basically answered my prayers by allowing me to find the humility and Faith to turn all of this over to Him.

At times, yes. But recently, my life has more ups than downs. I figure I better enjoy it while I can!
