I need to know why I'm on this Earth! I know it's not to watch The Wizard of Oz with the sound of and Pink Floid Playing, so don't even put that.

it's to show that one person has the chance to make a difference in the world
whether you decide to make something out of yourself of not is up to you. the creator or the world, whether you think it's god or not, he/she had the dream to create this amazing universe and to have people be able to fulfill their dream too because they knew how great they felt once their dream came true.
you may invent something to stop global warming or be a dictator, but either way you can save lives, even though people may die from you being a dictator, a worse dictator on the rise could have been killed. every life has a purpose and your path of life is to figure out what it is and follow it. remember life is a journey not a destination, don't rush to the finish. you'll find out the answers to your questions soon enough

You are on this earth because life happened. It is the normal course of events for this particular planet. No religion or philosophy can really explain or define the answer you ask. You have been given life and a higher function brain so do the best you can.

Life is a lesson. You learn it when you are through.
I have thought of the same question about why I am here on this Earth. Life can be very stressful sometimes but everything happens for a reason. The question always in my mind is for what reason does it happen? Eventually I find out (most of the time) what the reason was for what happened and it is like a light bulb goes off in my head and it's an "Aha" moment.
I don't know of your religion but I leave everything in God's hands and believe that He knows what is best for me, my wife and our future. You just have to have faith and trust.

You are the purpose of you own life. Find something you love, find someone you love and make your life. It's not always easy, but when you have something you are passionate about, pursue it! When you're doing something you love, it makes all the bumps along the way easier to deal with.
People are always seeking the all-definable 'purpose of life,' but the truth is - every life is unique and different and everyone has a different purpose. Find yours.

The purpose is to attain the ultimate in enlightenment.
Trials as lessons are presented before us. We either learn and progress, or fail, and have to repeat the lesson at another time.

Your parents had sex. An ovary produced a follicle which was later fertilized by your father's cell. If your parents didn't have sex on that day and in that year, your particular DNA pattern would likely never have formed. You would not have been born. You would not have been here questioning your existence in the world.
Any purpose that you decide on after that is entirely up to you.

To learn. We have many lives and in most lives, we build up either good or bad karma. If you do something bad, then if you are not punished in this life, you will be punished in the next life. If you are a good person, then you will have an easy life in the next life.
