Not a common topic in the social atmosphere. We can have white gay male friends but when a White man or non Black man is out with a Black women that is a source for ire? Perspectives please.

Additional info - when I'm out with my non Black boyfriend (sorry for all you who thought I was being narrow minded in this question) I don't get conforted by those around me. No, I don't see color. No, I'm not in tunnel vision. But where I'm from, the relationship that I'm in would be nonexistent because of the taboo. I just want to know from others why? Why haven't we discussed or explored this before? Why did a movie have to come out before we seriously thought about this or was okay for a White/NonBlack male to date a Black woman whereas a Black man will get flack for dating a white woman. I just want to understand the disparity.

Taboo - something forbidden or not thought of. (I live in the x region of the country therefore I cannot date x type of people)

I was prompted by this question by Max Ferguson (a superhero questioner - look him up)

"Why is it when I ask a white girl this question her black boyfriend gets all bent outta shape ?" - Max F.

unfortunately, some see it as a step down for a "white" man to date a "black" woman, and it shouldn't be that way. until society includes "black" women in with those they deem "all american" or "apple pie", they will forever consider "white" men dating "black" women as being taboo.

It seems to me that the whole taboo about it is merely the effect of the early invasions. If you think about the fact that black women at the time were often given no choice on the matter and as a result over time it could easily become a negatively viewed situation. It is just something that has come about form blatant disregard for these women in the history.

If u turn the tables and look at a white girl with a black guy the same sort of attitude can emerge from that as well.

it is the effect of generation after generation of repeated mindset. (not to say that it comes from either white or black people it is from both)

Stop me if i am wrong people i am just going off my old school history memory could be off track but yer.

Without playing games, don’t be available 100% of the time or let your life be an open book. A man that comes on too strong or doesn’t have outside interests will scare a woman away just as much as it would if the circumstances were reversed. Read here https://tr.im/5YGXY

Women don’t want to feel as though they are completely responsible for your happiness and that is what it feels like when the other person has no outside interests. Men who are overeager or jump when the woman says jump are the ones who are more likely to end up in the friend zone. This doesn’t mean that you should play the game of not calling for a few days; it means that you should set healthy boundaries until you both naturally find a spot for the other in your lives.

All those so called inferior and unwanted black men need a dose of reality, because more than likely they're dating white women. There is nothing wrong with black women dating white men, or latino, asian, and indian for that matter. Skin color does not make a person.

It's a guy territory thing especially amongst black Americans. They feel the white man is moving in on their black women! They respect another black guy having a black girl but a white guy that is like cheating on their culture!

I didn't know it was. There are a lot of white men who date black women out here and no one ever says or pays attention to it anymore than 2 blacks or 2 whites. Sorry I can't help here.

There is a taboo because people aren't ready to accept that the world is changing. Instead of accepting the fact that a black woman is not limited to only dating black men, people chose to fear and despise the idea of interracial dating. As long as racial intolerance is taught, this belief will continue in perpetuity.

it's not taboo. it's just not seen very often due to the fact it's not "accepted" in society as much as a black man dating a white woman. it's always alright for a black man to date a white woman but when a black woman does it, she's a sellout. People need to get over it. It goes back to the slave days.

I think that as the years go by it will become more and more casual, but when i see a black guy dating a white girl it seems odd and im sure black guys feel odd or immasculated by white guys dating black girls. It is just another one of those color barriers that has to be overcome by both parties.

Simple. For years Black men have run off with White women, while we sat by & complained about them "stealing our men" or "the brotha is weak".This has boosted the Black male ego over the years, making him think that he's worth fighting over. However, Black women have become fed up. Now, we are looking at ALL the OTHER colors out there & those OTHER colors are lookng right back at us. The Black man is out of the Black woman's mind & now the "brotha's" ego is deflated. Now when he turns around, the "sistah" that chased him is walking hand 'n' hand with the (place any race here) man in the opposite direction! This Black man no longer feels special. Since he can't seem to grasp the fact that he drove the "sistah" to this White Man, he goes around trashing the Black woman who, honestly, got sick of waiting for his sorry a-ss to come back. Was that thorough enough for ya?

A black friend and I were having a frank discussion one day about this topic. He told me that he hated seeing white men with black women and I told him that likewise, I hated seeing white women with black men.

I guess it boils down to men being possessive. We're all the same.
