Q: Are there dormitories at California community colleges?

A: Most students who attend community colleges live at home. Because community colleges primarily serve their local areas, most do not have dormitories, and those that do tend to be in more rural areas of the state.
The eleven community colleges that do have on-campus housing are Columbia, Kings River, Lassen, Redwoods, Santa Rosa, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyous, Taft, West Hills, and Yuba. Assistance finding off-campus rentals is also available at most colleges.

Something to be aware of, most public colleges and universities charge considerably less tuition to in-state students in comparison to students from out of state. Pick a college in your state to keep costs down. Investigate regional student exchange programs, in which some states offer reduced tuition rates for nearby states. To help possibly cut cost why not see if you can get some funding? Check out the Financial Aid link below. Hope this helps!

Santa Rosa Junior College does have housing, and it is a very good school. I went there from 96-99 and had a great experience.

None of the community colleges offer their own housing, since they are designed for local commuter students. It is possible, though, that some may have housing offices to help you find an apartment.
