The first layer of the earth is called the crust. The earth is made up of the following elements in approximate percentage, O-46%, Silicon-27.7%, Al-8.1, Fe-5%,Ca-3.6%, Na-2.8%, K-2.6%, and Magnesium 2.1%. Because of chemical diffrentiation iron and magnesium migrate toward the center of the earth making the upper layers of the earth relativley depleted. So, take out Fe and Magnesium and you have the relative composition of the upper layer of the earth. hope this helps.

Mostly water. What isn't water is mostly dirt. The rest is pretty much asphalt.
