There are many different types of welding depending on the metals. You really need to take a class to be a good welder.

ok make sure metal is earthed first of all, can be quite tricky and some people never really pick it up, now have your mask down as serious eye injuries can happen, and tap where you want to weld to get rod attached (but not sticking), now slightly move rod side to side and get melted rod to sort of have like small waves happening and move down at same time, once you have finished use claw of hammer and gently tap off the flux, practice on bits of metal before on the real thing as you can blow holes, not have enough weld and wont hold together, also wear long sleeves and pants as can get burnt

This is not just something you do. It can be dangrous and harmful to your eyes if you dont know what your doing. If you truly want to learn to weld, find a good tech school to attend. That's what I did.
