I think that they are more brave and liberated than others. To display there emotions and feelings in the form of ink and on their skin, I like it, I think it gives you a sense of power, liberation and expression, in ways that others cannot compare to.

I think it's a stigma from the old days when only 'punks' and cons had tattoos. If you saw a tattoo, it meant trouble. Nowadays it is an expression of oneself. I swore for the longest time I would never get one. I saw too many that quite frankly looked tacky, and I've known others who thought it looked cool at the time and hated it later. However, my husband has some, and with my grandma's death, I'm seriously thinking of geting a pink ribbon wrapped around a cross.

I teach at a technical school, and lots of the students have tattoos. Some have one or two, others have nearly their entire bodies covered with colorful permanent art
I always think that the tattooed person must have such an easy, unstressed, and well-heeled life that they need to find a way to experience pain and spend money to do it.

Tattoos are body decorations, sweetie...that's all. It's an expression of their individualism, symbolism or in some cases, group memberships. To each its own. We all have different reasons for doing stuff. So personally, I give them the benefit of the doubt. I don't form any judgment at all.

before tattoos became a part of trendy mainstream a lot of people got them as a sign of nonconformity.some for religious,or ethnic reasons.as to why people without tattoos worry so much about those who do is beyond my nonconformist mind.as to what people with tattoos think about it?it has been my experience that those who got them for personnel reasons, not because all their peers were, really don't care if a person does or doesn't have tattoos.believe me when i say you can look at someones tat and know if it really has meaning for them or if it was done on a drunken"wanna be cool"night or if it's just a part of trendy mainstream.

I have a tattoo but no one gives me an attitude.
Actually, I have 2, one on each shoulder. Mine aren't public and I don't want them to be public. They are high enough on my shoulder that they are covered by my clothes. Only a few people who have seen my shirt off have seen them. I haven't gotten any negative responses either.
