work requires compensation/wages.......offer a high enough wage and people become interested in the job. this is basic knowledge for anyone with a high school diploma. "jobs Americans wont do" is the equivalent of bets people wont make. last time i checked people are more than willing to plunk down $1 at a 1 in a billion chance of making a million dollars........

Americans will work for a wage they feel is fair. period. so we pay more to employ Americans, I would be glad to pay Americans more, not the criminals who ignore our laws.

Yes, it should be "jobs Americans won't do for the wage the companies are willing to pay" -- that would be the full and proper way to categorize the positions.

But not everyone who uses a shortcut phrase is an idiot -- some are fully aware of the distinction, and just abbreviate.

Though, I must admit you are correct, it would help more debates if people spent a little bit more time fully saying what they mean.

There is no job that an American won't do. My white American son cleans the filthy toilets at Wal-mart,a job that no American is suppose to want to do. This is his first job since graduating. Will he do this job forever? Of course not,but for now he is making a decent wage, has good benefits and is saving for college. If these types of jobs are all taken by the illegals, how are our children supposed to get an entry level job when they have no work experience.

I agree with your conclusions.
It is not even reasonable to expect anyone who is trying to support themselves and maintain a roof over their heads to work for minimum wage in this day and age - let alone for less.
An honest day's pay for an honest day's work will suffice to fill any position.
I can't for the life of me understand what is so damned difficult about enforcing the laws already on the books - and the greedy employers who exploit illegals do so with pretty much impunity.
Go figure.

I'm a big time Conservative. I've picked blueberries, moved freight, worked at McDonald's, sold cell phones, sold yellow page ads, worked at Circuit City, worked at an education program for children living in public housing.

The notion that Americans won't do certain jobs is bullshit. A paycheck is a paycheck. If it pays the bills, yea me.

The only jobs Americans will not do, are the ones that the employers won't allow them to do, because immigrant labor is cheaper.

Just like there is no incentive for gasoline refiners to boost supply, and thereby reducing their margins, there is no incentive for a large company that wants cheap labor to support a candidate that is actually going to put a stop to illegal immigrations, or cheap foreign labor.
