Isn't it wonderful that BIOS actually does it automatically for you.

As soon as BIOS detects a card on the x16 PCIe slot, it will disable onboard graphics and stop sharing system ram as video ram. Be sure you transfer that display connector to the new card. Immediately install the new driver, adjust your screen resolution and enjoy your games.

That new card draws about 4 amps on the +12V rail of your power supply. If your current power supply has less than 15 amps rating on the +12V rail, it might have a problem supporting that card. Consider a power supply upgrade.

Two ways you can do it.

1. Right click the My Computer icon, then Properties.

2. On new window click the Hardware tab on top then the
Device Manager button

3. In the list of devices find Display Adapters and click the +
next to it.

4. Right click your onboard video in that subsection and click
the disable option.

The second way you can do it is

1. Click Start button, then Control Panel, then the System icon

2. Then follow steps 2, 3, and 4 as stated above.

You should have a setting In Bios usually press F1 F2 or Esc as soon as pc boots to access. The setting you want is probably Automatic detection. It should be on that anyway.. I think you mean a PCI express GFX card PCI is a very different BUS. Once you put the card in your BIOS and Operating system will take care of the detection use a basic VGA driver to get you into Windows (I assume) and you can install your driver for the card then.... Quick restart and away you go.

Enter Bios during boot-up (Press Del or F1).

Go to Integrated Peripherals. Ensure the setting for on-board graphics is either auto or off. The former will automatically turn off the on-board graphics when it detects a card inserted into the graphics slot, the latter turns it off completely.

The actual wording may be different, but this is fairly standard across all most makes of motherboard.

it usually does not need to be disabled, it just finds the card and usues that.

If that does not work there is usually an "on board devices" area in the bios
