My mom lost 50 lbs. on this diet 10 years ago. She keeps her weight off on a modified Atkins now.. Ive seen many lose on this but you have to stick FAITHFULLY to the diet. What motivates you is that every day you wet on a test strip. If you get to the color purple on the strip you are losing fast. If it is pink, you are losing but at a slower pace. A deep purple is your goal. In time you will find something (Food) not in the Atkins book that will not throw off your color.
I've heard that this is bad for your cholesterol because you can fry meat in butter and eat eggs. eat pork and beef. But if you are sensible and use canola oil instead of butter and trim the fat off of the meat and not use many eggs and do not drink milk except soy (yuk), you should lose quickly.
If you buy the book you will have recipes for making bread, pancakes and a lot of things you like. Use sugar substitute and fat free syrup. My mom buys whole grain bread which doesn't hurt her color strips. They have 6 grams of carbs per slice.. My favorite was any lunch meat and cheese and mayonnaise rolled up like a wrap.
The first 2 or 3 weeks are a little hard but if you are serious you can do it. Good luck! You just need the desire and the best part is if you stick strickly to the diet you can eat until you feel like bursting and it won't hurt you.

you at the instant are not meant to drink coffee or tea on Atkins (the caffeine makes your insulin spike purely like fruit does), yet I doubt it somewhat is why it is no longer working. purely some physique types respond to low-carb diets, and that i'm guessing yours purely isn't one in each of them. yet another issue could be which you have become too few energy. Your food do no longer sound extraordinarily calorie-heavy; even on Atkins, you're able to ensure that your physique is getting a real looking volume of energy, otherwise it isn't any distinctive than a starvation weight loss software. in case you have become around 1000-1200 an afternoon (1200-1400 for a guy), your physique could have long previous into starvation mode (in case you have become decrease than that, it just about definetely has) and not something in need of finished foodstuff deprivation will make your physique enable pass of fat whilst it is in starvation mode. If bumping up your foodstuff intake and commencing easy muscle training would not help, you would be wanting to ask a doctor. you have got some thing medically incorrect, or it may purely be that your physique hates you.

My mom, myself, and my sister did Atkins. I lost 15 lbs in a month, and couldn't lose anything else. My mom lost about 40 lbs in a month or two, and my sister lost a grand total of 80 lbs, but I don't remember in how much time. It really works if you're strict, but it's annoying. Even if I had lost a lot of weight I don't think I could stick with it. The really bad thing about it is that you can get really REALLY constipated, lol.
As for what we ate.. Lots of salads, cheese, chicken, steak, pork, broccoli, pickles, fish, sausages... I got sick of all that stuff very fast. The bad thing is that, once you stop Atkins you have to be careful or you will gain everything back extremely fast.

I lost almost 50 pounds on it in about 4 or 5 months. I read the book and website and followed all the instructions. I ate eggs and bacon for breakfast. Lunch I usually had grilled chicken or some kind of meat and salad. Dinner I'd have meat and salad again. Throughout the day I'd snack on nuts or celery or low carb bars and shakes, beef jerkey...that kind of stuff. Sometimes I'd make low carb quesadillas with the low carb tortillas and cheese. I had Splenda in the house all the time, and my purse.
I got really good at it and felt good! Whenever I need to lose a few more pounds that I put on, I get stricter on my carb count. That's the only diet that worked for me, and I never felt hungry, and I had SO much more energy!
It's not one that works for everybody though...but it worked VERY well for me! I felt so much stronger and healthier and happier. My mood changed...the cloud that my head was in disappeared...I could focus much better. but it did take about a week to detox and get over the carb addiction.

I lost 20 pounds, but I don't recommend that diet.
You eat large quantities of foods that should only be eaten in moderation, like cheese and red meat. So though I lost some weight, my bad cholesterol went through the roof.
Now, after two decades of fad diet after fad diet, I'm finally doing what my wise doctor always was trying to get me to do -- eat a sensible diet full of healthy, fresh foods [breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, evening snack -- food every three hours], get some sort of exercise daily [I walk for 30 minutes], drink plenty of water, and get a good night's sleep every night. The result is that I'm losing about two pounds per week. It's all a matter of "calories in -- calories out." So I don't even think of myself as being "on a diet" -- I've merely changed my eating habits.

I have a friend who lost 50 pounds using the Atkins diet. But, he gained it back plus 10. He lost it quickly and gained it back just as quickly when he couldn't take it anymore and returned to his normal eating pattern.
He finally lost the weight by coming to his senses and just ate "right" and exercised. It took longer, but he has kept it off for five years.

I lost 75 to 80 pounds numerous times but gained it all back again and again. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to balance the low carb with low calories.
It's a tough diet to maintain since we all love carbs. It's a great diet though. It only took me about 6 months to lose 75 to 80 pounds plus I was exercising regularly.

yes, I lost about 10 lbs in two weeks. I ate a lot actually. Salads, Steak, Eggs, Bacon, Porkrinds....
It`s very important that you READ LABELS, in the first two weeks, you are not allowed more than 20 Carbs a day!

Though heart disease is genetic, some say, I wonder why the creator of the Atkins diet's death from a heart attack was covered up to make it look like he fell and bumped his head hm...
