I mean think about it, you have Democrats and Republicans, not politcians I mean regular people, rabidly debating whether its true or not and whether we should do anything about it. But what people think lately seems to go down party line, which I think is sad because it means that special interests on both sides are dominating the debate, environmentalist groups give money to Democrats and oil companies give money to Republicans, both have different interests in the issue so their stance becomes the party's talking points and people just decide that that's what they believe without think for themselves. I think that's sad because it means they're winning, these corrupt greedy groups on both sides control the parties and the money and now the minds of the people. Why don't people just do their own research instead of reading biased opinions and come up with a consensus and a plan instead of bickering on behalf of special interests?

Another way to ask the question is: "Isn't it sad that some people are so dumb they put today's greed over tomorrow's survival". And the answer to both questions is yes.

who cares which political party thinks whatever. The point is everyone knows about global warming and if they believe it then they will make some changes. But then we look at the wealthy who aren't making changes or aren't making significant changes. What do they know that we don't, or is it that they can fly out of any bad situation the reason that they aren't being prudent. So do we follow their lead or lead by ourselves? I mean, monthly I have to argue with the electric company because they tell me I'm using a lot of electricity "because my neighbors do"...say what? maybe I'm different from my neighbors. When I moved into this apartment they wanted me to give a deposit of $170 because they said that's what your neighbors and past people who had the apartment paid. I said "why do I have to pay 4 times more than what I usually use?"

Yes and no.
On the one hand, it's very unfortunate that individual people look at it as a political issue rather than a scientific one. Anyone who looks just at the science behind global warming will come to the same conclusion as climate scientists - that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.
Unfortunately many people would rather listen to guys like Rush Limbaugh who have a vested political interest in convincing us that humans aren't causing global warming. In that sense, it's unfortunate that the issue has become politicized in the USA.
However, we need it to be a political issue in the sense that our government needs to take action if we're going to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions sufficiently to avoid the worst consequences of global warming. Individual action will not cut it.
What we need is for people to examine the issue scientifically before making it a political issue. Unfortunately too many people go straight into the politics before understanding the science.

If someone (especially a politician) contends that global glimate change is NOT occurring due to increased emmissions, then you can be sure that they have some ulterior motive.
Why?
Whether global glimate change is occurring or not, we still need to stop burning oil and gas and coal because: A) we are running out of it, B) billions of dollars leaves the united states to pay for oil and C) when oil does run out, we need to be ready for it.
So you see there really is no debate here. There are other reasons to go green. As far as politics goes, this is all politicians need to worry about.
And as far as I am concerned, global climate change is occurring and there is ample evidence for it. I studied it, I was a skeptic at one point but now believe it to be 100% true and verifyable.
NOTE: Global Warming is the term that everyone is familiar with, but a politically correct term is Global Climate Change. It has been observed that some areas are warming while other areas are cooling outside the norms for those regions.

Warming will come and go but I see as people we should be cleaner for our own health not the planet, because the Earth will still be here when humanity is gone.

The stupid answers you've gotten should tell you that there's alot more to it than that - there are lots of gullible people willing to believe all the "science' the Republicans spew out. The Democrats have solid science on their side - what more can they do?

I heard about one minister (I think he was in the DC area) who was removed from his parish because he dared to suggest that the scientific basis behind global climate change might be worth further study.
Sacked just for saying we should look at the issue.
It's going beyond politics -- for many people it's purely a religious matter, and even daring to question their conclusion is treated as heresy.
More than sad, it's tragic. Because regardless of that particular issue, it means we've lost the ability to even discuss important topics rationally and objectively.

I agree; our government should be researching and finding the TRUTH behind the global issues. We need to KNOW how much longer human beings and their fellow creatures will exist. I will be siding with the democrats, however. No matter how bad global warming is, we will always need to help the situation. Bickering and complaining will get us nowhere, and I wish that the government could see that as well.

I have done my own research and I have found man-made global warming to be the biggest scam in world history. Follow the money. Do some research of Generation Investment Management. Can you say conflict of interest.
