Why do teenage girls stare?

Question

I don't think i'm special, I know they do it to everyone. I dress down, I don't wear make up, i'm attractive(just trying not to be conceited.) and I'm a neat eater. So it can't be anything to do with the way I look.

But why? I used to know a girl who would look you up and down for ten minutes. So I'd stare back. Eventually she would stop. This haunts me to no end.

There's been plenty of girls who stare at me.

I suppose it is because I'm comfortable with myself and still get attention. Muahahahahahaaa

I'm a teenage girl..um..we stare? I didnt realise until now. But I think we stare because we're curious. And a lot of the time we think about if we're going to look like the person we stare at when we grow up. We're NOT jealous. And some girls stare because they think you're pretty, or if they like girls, maybe cuz they think you're hot ... lol.

I get that all the time, too. People think I'm being self-conscious or paranoid, but girls (especially teens) will stare at me like I've got another head growing out of my shoulders! It annoys me to no end! Didn't their mothers ever teach them that staring is rude? They probably do it to me because I'm overweight, but still. It's rude. Next time I think I'll just stare them down in return, and look at them like they've got a huge booger coming out of their nose... See how THEY like it...

Being a teenage girl myself, I can honestly admit that I stare at other girls, because I love observing people of my own gender and age...

As you mentioned, you don't wear make up, and you are a neat person too, probably they are wondering if they could be like you. ^_^ Don't worry dear, it's nothing serious...

haha, i'm a teenage girl too but i dont think i do that.

that has happened to me though. i dont understand it either. I dont think there is anything wrong with me.

the other day this girl at subway was with her boyfriend and my brother and i were behind them. the girl was looking around before we got there but i guess she didnt get a good look at me because a few seconds after we got in line she tried make a slight turn and look me up and down. i think she was trying to do it not to make it obvious but my brother even saw what she was doing. i thought it was weird but after i got my sandwich i didnt care.

They're just curious about others-how they dress, look, style, etc. (same reason kids stare). I'll stare if I recognize them or think I know them from the past,-that could be the reason too.

That always happens to me - sometimes, when a girl is really jealous or just is insecure about herself, she stares at another girl to make the girl feel just as insecure about herself, as the staring girl is.
