Jimmy Hendrix because he started the psychedelic sounds that you here in 60's acid rock.

Jimmy Page because with him Led Zeppelin would not have succeed in starting the hard rock move back in the late 60's.

Cliff Burton because without him Metallica would not have succeeded in starting the heavy metal move back in the early 80's.

U-2's Bono because how many people can truly write songs about of some of the most contraversial events the has ever happened and still have those same songs truly "Kick *ss." The most important is the fact that his songs proved the critics who claimed that "People who listen to hard rock and heavy metal are nothing more than devil-worshippers" wrong.

However, if I only had to pick one it would be Bono for the very same reason that I stated.

That's actually pretty tough...Stevie Ray Vaughan is who i want to say because he's my personal favorite, hendrix because after he died, as a tribute, bob dylan would only perform ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER the way hendrix played it, and yet in all honesty i think it's Eddie Van Halen. He gave the meaning to 'Let's Rock...'
(Acoustic...John Prine, Cat Stevens and last but NEVER least, Steve Goodman)
